Welcome to the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Heppner,, Oregon Celebration gets underway with annual auction By Doris Brosnan “A Wee Bit O ’ Ireland” officially begins Friday at 7 p.m., when the auction starts upstairs at the Elks Lodge. Auctioneer Ken Grieb and the auction crew will offer the bidders a variety o f opportunities, and other auction committee members will help bidders find that “something special, something spectacular” at the silent auction tables. Almost 200 donations have resulted in an event that features something for everyone - men, women, children and even pets. The audience will be entertained during the intermissions, with the music o f Joe Lindsay. The auction is accessed by turning left up the stairs inside the Elks’ front entrance. Assistance with the stairs is available. Upstairs, bidders will discover an atmosphere more spacious and quiet than last year’s. They will find - among the vast variety - practical and luxury items (ie. tools, a genuine Waterford crystal bowl from Ireland), entertainment and dining packages (overnight getaways, golf, pool party for up to 40), collectibles and limited editions (one-of-a-kind “A Wee Bit O ’ Ireland” buttons sweatshirt, retired Beanie Babies, Blazer dolls), sporting goods and items for the home. Although donations will be accepted until auction time, a mostly complete list o f items will be available on Friday morning in the local eateries, at the Senior Center’s meals, and at the information booth. The list printed in today’s newspaper offers a good idea o f the variety that will be found at the auction.
