Brad Burright, lone High
School senior, was picked for the
1A football all state second
team.
Senior Adam N eiffer
received honorable mention.
Burright, N eiffer and
senior Adam M cCabe were also
a community wide survey to assess
community knowledge of behavioral
health's services.
Surveys were sent out randomly
to community members in Morrow
and Wheeler counties. The surveys
cover questions like: Do you know
where the M orrow/W heeler
Behavioral offices are located? Have
you needed access to mental health
or alcohol treatment services before?
All survey responses will be kept
confidential and no tracking o f
surveys will occur, said an office
news release.
M orrow/W heeler Behavioral
Health plans to hold a drawing for
prizes for those who complete the
survey. Anyone who receives a
survey and would like to be eligible
for the drawing is asked to complete
the survey and keep the slip that is
enclosed. Each survey and enclosed
slip are numbered. When the survey
is returned, that survey's number
will be entered into a drawing for
prizes. Prizes include free gas,
groceries, food and other gift
be printed in the Heppner Gazette,
the North Morrow Times. The Times
Journal and the W heeler County
News around Dec. 17. The winners
will also be posted throughout each
county.
Due to reduced on-site septic
system activity in the winter season
and a projected budget shortfall in
the state's on-site program, the
Oregon
Department
of
Environmental Quality (DEQ) has
suspended its on-site septic system
advice program The program has
been offered the first Tuesday of
the month at the Morrow County
Planning Department in Imgon.
The program has served as a local
resource for on-site septic system
evaluations,
permitting
and
inspections and has been a means
o f providing information about on
site applications, constructing new
system s or maintaining existing
systems.
Technical assistance and forms
related to on-site septic system
regulations, site evaluations,
permitting and construction for
Morrow County residents may be
obtained at the DEQ Pendleton
Office at 700 SE Emigrant, Suite
330, Pendleton, OR 97801. On-site
applications and fees should also
be sent to this address. For more
information or assistance, contact
the DEQ Pendleton office at (541)
276-4063.
In order to keep their on-site
system operating properly, owners
should remember the "dos and
don'ts" o f septic system operation
and maintenance, according to a
DEQ news release. Low-flow toilets,
showerheads and faucets are
recommended to conserv e water and
extend the system’s life. Leaky toilets
and faucets should be repaired
