EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, September 12, 2001 Sheriff's Report possible theft o f a dog in Imgon. -Boardman Police Dept, officer cited Andres Gonzalez-Ganbay, 20, for No Operator's License and Illegal Stopping/Parking. -MCSO, Oregon State Police received a report of a speeding semi on 1-84 eastbound. -MCSO, Oregon State Police received a report of a man walking on 1-84 eastbound. -MCSO received a report from the Manon County Shenffs Office that Rolando Valdivia-Dorantes, 26, was arrested on an Imgon Justice Court warrant for Failure to Pay Fine/Failure to Appear. He was lodged at the Manon County Jail. -MCSO, Boardman Fire Dept, received a report that grass was still smoldering near huts on Tower Road. It was a bum from the weekend and all the burned areas were smoldenng. All was okay. -Boardman ambulance received a request for an ambulance in Boardman for the caller's girlfriend, 27, who is two months pregnant, and is vomiting with signs of blood. No transport was made. -MCSO received a report from The Morrow County Sheriffs Office (MCSO) reports handling the following business: -MCSO relayed information to the Washington State Police regarding a vehicle accident on Alderdale Road approximately four miles from Mabton, Washington. There were several people around the vehicle. The accident had not blocked the roadway. Information w as relayed to Washington State Police due to poor connection. -MCSO, Boardman Fire Dept, received a report of a grass fire just east of Main Street on Wilson Lane in Boardman. -MCSO received a report o f a burglar alarm at the Lutheran Church in Boardman. It was an employee error. -MCSO, Heppner Police Dept, received a report from a male subject in Heppner that he was having a verbal altercation with other people. -MCSO received a request for deputy contact regarding the HHS site council seeks parents The Heppner High School Site Council is seeking parents who have students attending Heppner High School to run for one of two positions - position one and two. Candidates will have their names put on a ballot and will be voted on by parents of Heppner High School in a ballot by mail. Those interested in being a candidate for the Heppner High School Site Council, indicate position #1 or position #2 and mail it to: Dick Allen, Heppner High School, Box 67, Heppner, Oregon 97836. Deadline is Monday, Sept. 24. Advisory Committee plans meeting The Heppner-Lexmgton Advisory Committee will have a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. m the Heppner High School library to receive input from community members on the upcoming school bond projects for Heppner schools. Lady Card JVs defeat Cove The Lady Cardinal junior varsity team retaliated against Cove's junior varsity team by defeating the Leopards in two games, 15-6,15-7, Junior Caitlm Orem led the Cardinals with 14 points, four of which were ace serves. Orem was also the lead with set assists, received one pass and delivered three hits. Tracy Griffith served 100 percent, scored five points, received three passes and hammered over three hits. Katie Hams scored three points, and had three hits. Jamie VandenBrink scored two points, serving 100 percent. Emily Key scored two points, including one ace, executed five passes and slammed over one hit. Barbara Holland scored two points, received two passes, had one hit and blocked one hit attempt. Amanda Emery scored one point and executed one pass. Sara Peck scored one point, delivered two set assists, implemented two passes and dispensed two hits. The Cardinal junior varsity team served 87 percent and delivered 83 percent o f successful passes. Cabin owners meet The Morrow County Cabin Owners Association held their annual meeting on Sept. 2 at Glen and Joyce Ward's cabin. Fourteen members met to discuss ways to keep theft and vandalism at a minimum at their properties. Should a member's cabin be broken into or vandalized the group offers a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for committing the crime. The group discussed publicizing the reward, hoping to Imgon o f a female in a vehicle wanting her dog who was blocking the caller's driveway. -MCSO deputy served a restraining order to a male subject in Irrigon. -MCSO deputy advised he was investigating a suspicious vehicle at Patterson Ferry and 1-84 on-ramp and requested backup. Other deputies and the Oregon State Police arrived. Demetrio Catalan Garcia, 31, was cited for No Operator's License, No Insurance. His vehicle was impounded. -MCSO received a request from a caller at R.D. Offutt for deputy contact regarding abandoned vehicles. -Boardman Police Dept, received a report from the manager of the Trail Apartments in Boardman that a male subject was in the parking lot practicing with a "jimmy". The subject was thrown out o f the apartments by the manager and was to be cited for criminal trespass if he returns. -MCSO received a report from a male subject in Irrigon that his ex-wife came to his house harassing him and trying to take their child. The ex-wife then called from Irrigon, reporting possible child abuse as her ex-husband wouldn't give her child back. -MCSO, Boardman Police Dept, received a report o f two vehicles blocking the drive area in the park in Boardman. MCSO received a report from a caller in Irrigon that her eight-year- old son was out o f control and she was having to hold him down so he wouldn't harm himself or others. -MCSO, Irrigon Fire Dept, received a report from Imgon of kids down the road using illegal fireworks. July 3: MCSO received a report o f a suspicious vehicle driving around lone late at night. -MCSO received a report from the caller that a orange life vest was found on Highway 74. -Oregon State Police received a report of a Pontiac Grand Am all over the road on 1-84 eastbound. -Oregon State Police received a report of a Chevy Geo going 90+ mph on 1-84 eastbound. -Oregon State Police received a report o f a piece of chrome on the roadway bn t-84 eastbound. -MCSO received a report of dogs tied up in the sun that were without water or shelter. It appeared one dog was dead on its chain. The deputy was denied permission to enter the property by the property owner. Registration for the one-day nde will begin at 10 a.m. at the Coal Mine Hill day use area, one-and-a- half miles south of Cutsforth Park on Highway 678. The seven-and-a-half mile loop trail ride will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is appropriate for intermediate riders. There is no charge to their own risk. Arlington Saddle Club organizers ask that riders leave their dogs at home. Riders under the age of 12 years must have an adult accompany them on the ride. The Heppner Police will be looking for unbuckled drivers and passengers. Drivers should be aware they are responsible for each passenger that is not using a seat belt, said a department news release. A seat belt survey will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 13. had choked and had been removed. -Heppner Police Dept, received a request for officer contact regarding a loud music complaint in Heppner. -MCSO received a report o f a Ford truck that was going 80+ mph and almost hit the caller. The vehicle, that appeared to belong to a business, was headed towards Boardman. -MCSO, Oregon State Police received a report of a Nina motorcycle on 1-84 eastbound going 80+ mph. -MCSO received a report of a male subject in Heppner with abdominal pains who requested an ambulance. -Boardman Police Dept, received a report of a juvenile at a residence in Boardman who had a hammer and was pounding on something. -Oregon State Police received a report of three empty cattle trucks and one Ford pickup that were speeding 80+ mph on 1-84 eastbound. -MCSO received a report of loud music in Boardman. The caller wanted an officer to check it out but did not wish a citation issued. -MCSO, Arlington ambulance received a report o f a vehicle that drove through the west wall of the Arlington Chevron. Two patients were transported to Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles. -MCSO received information about a repossession of a vehicle. The subject would call back if successful. -MCSO deputy advised he was attempting to overtake a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed on 1-84 and possibly trying to elude him. Oregon State Police, Boardman Police Dept assisted the deputy. The vehicle stopped in Boardman where the driver left on foot. The driver, Kenneth Lance Barker, 26, and passenger, Johnny E. Highley, 30, were both taken into custody on several counts. The vehicle was impounded. July 4: Heppner Police Dept, received a report of several subjects in Heppner causing problems and possibly fighting. Officers were unable to locate the subjects. -Heppner Fire Dept, chief received a report of an unattended controlled bum in a bum barrel in Heppner. The fire dept, chief said he would take care of it. -Heppner Police Dept, received another report that the several subjects reported before .were back. They were possibly intoxicated and causing a disturbance by being loud. Officers were unable to locate the subjects. High school rodeo kicks off new season Oregon High School Rodeo action kicked off a new season at the Gilliam County Fair in Condon on Sept. 1 and 2. The Columbia Basin High School Rodeo Club sponsored the rodeo. lone's Tracy Griffith placed ninth in the barrel racing with a 18.578 and took 10th in the breakaway roping with a 16.24. The fall rodeo season will see competitions in Bums and Elgin before the winter break. Colt volleyball to begin Sept. 14 The Colt volleyball program, for boys and girls in grades three to six, will begin this Friday, September 14, at the Heppner High School gym. Children in Heppner, Lexington, lone and surrounding areas are invited to attend. Registration and release forms are available at the Heppner Elementary School office. The caller was concerned due to the hot weather, thinking the cows may be out of water. -MCSO, Boardman Police Dept, received a report that a truck almost hit the caller and the caller's vehicle in Boardman. -MCSO received a report o f a vehicle that had been sitting along the Bombing Range Road for over an hour. -MCSO deputy assisted Boardman Police with traffic control during a parade. -MCSO, Boardman Police and Fire depts., Boardman ambulance received a report of a motor vehicle accident in front of the car wash on Mam Street in Boardman. Transport to medical help was refused. -Boardman ambulance received a report from Boardman that the caller's sister may have overdosed on Darvaset. Transport to medical help was refused. -MCSO received a report from Heppner that the caller's neighbor had her music loud again and was chanting. -MCSO received a report from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office that Kevin Helzer, 33, was arrested on an Irrigon Justice Court warrant for Failure to Pay Fine/Dri vmg while License Suspended. He was lodged at the UCSO Jail. -MCSO received a report that the previous day a United Rental truck had lost a lot o f debris on Highway 74 between Lexington and Heppner. -MCSO received a report from Imgon that a female subject wanted to get her car keys back from another woman but she refused to give them back. -MCSO, Boardman ambulance received a report of a 37-year-old female at the Boardman 76 station who possibly had heat stroke. The patient was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. -MCSO, Heppner Police Dept, received a report that a vehicle passed the caller's vehicle while Death Notice Word has been received of the death of Kristi (Haguewood) Huber of Raymond, WA, formerly of Heppner. The caller wanted to press charges. -MCSO, Boardman Police Dept, received a report of a burglar alarm at the Boardman Fire Dept. It was a false alarm; all was okay. -MCSO, Boardman Police Dept, received a report of a found wallet at the Umatilla Chemical Depot. The caller wanted it returned to the owner. -MCSO received a report of a loose horse. The owner could not be contacted but the horse was retrieved and put back in the field. -MCSO received a report from Oregon State Police that Joshua Mason True, 20, was arrested for Operating without Required Lighting and on an Irrigon Justice Court warrant for Failure to Appear/Driving while License Suspended. -MCSO received a report from a subject in Sherman County that a male subject arrived at the caller's residence and told him that he was gomg to move in and that there was nothing he could do about it. The subject was lying out back; he didn't appear intoxicated, disorientated or combative. The subject was given a ride to Biggs. -MCSO received a report of a restraining order violation in lone between two subjects. -MCSO received a report from Imgon that five loose cattle were found. The caller secured them in her pasture and would contact the brand inspector in the morning. -MCSO received a report of a fight in progress at the lone High School. -MCSO received a request from Imgon for a deputy to contact her on July 5 regarding her vehicle registration. Her fiance's friend would not return it. -MCSO, lone EMTs, Heppner ambulance received a request for an ambulance for a male juvenile who had fallen at the lone High School and had unknown injuries. The patient was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. An 18-year-old was cited for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. Fair board seeks chaperon The Morrow County Fair Board is accepting applications for chaperon for the 2001 -2001 Morrow County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo Court.
