The Morrow County Historical
Society Board met June 23 at the
home of Mildred and Harold Baker
in Boardman for their quarterly
meeting, with Don Eppenbach
presiding.
Discussion was held on the
signage for the old one-room
schoolhouses that the group hopes
to place at the sites o f each one.
Anyone knowing o f the dates of
building and closing of any of these
schools should contact Ruth
McCabe, Fran Barnett or Mildred
Baker. The Bakers offered to make
the signs. They will make a
prototype and present it to the board.
Betty Carlson, who is on the
Museum Board, was present. She
asked if anyone had ideas how the
two groups could cooperate so that
more people would be involved
in the operation of these historical
groups to save things o f value to
this project. One suggestion was
to include a couple o f members of
the Historical Society on the
Museum Board. Any decisions on
this were tabled until a later date.
Don Eppenbach reported on the
progress in planning the celebration
of the 200th anniversary of the
Lewis and Clark Expedition in 2006.
He has a contact that might show
slides of the Columbia River and
its history in relation to the
expedition at the annual meeting
o f the Morrow County Historical
Society on October 7 at the
Lexington Grange Hall.
In other business the group voted
to donate money to put a water
fountain in the Boardman Senior
Citizen building that is being built.
