By Amy Jepsen, reporter
The Barnyarders 4-H swine club
recently had a wonderful opportunity
when Kelwayne Haguewood donated
a young sow to the club. The club
members decided to have the pig
butchered. The m eat would then
be donated to the Heppner
Neighborhood Center, St. Patrick's
Senior C enter and the Stokes
L.anding Senior Center in Imgon.
Pat Schwarz donated the butchenng
fee and the club paid him to cut and
wrap the pig. The hanging weight
of the sow carcass was 600 pounds.
Some o f the club m em bers were
present to see the hog butchered.
They learned more about the internal
organ parts including the heart,
intestinal tract and the reproductive
system from club leader Bill Jepsen.
