We have some great young people
in Heppner, but you already knew
that. Last week was the first Eighth
Grade Job Shadow in Heppner with
30 students going to area businesses
to become aware of different career
opportunities. The Chamber of
Commerce did some of the legwork
and worked with teacher Greg Grant
to promote the program, but the
success of the day can be attributed
to the school, the youth and the
participating businesses. All 70+
were treated to an excellent lunch
prepared by the Heppner High
School students and cooks. Older
students decorated, set-up and
cleaned up. The Elks were kind
enough to lend their facility. A day
the Chamber hopes will become
an annual event.
