EIG H T - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, July 5, 2000 Sheriff's Report The Morrow County Sheriffs Office (MCSO) reports handling the follow ing business: MCSO received a request from a man for someone to pick up his daughters. He says they are out of control at their mother’s. The report was referred to Services to Children and Families(SFC) MCSO received report from a Heppner woman that her 17-year old daughter hit her w ith a phone book over the head and left the residence. She was located. MCSO received report of a missing black Quarter Horse. MCSO received report from a male subject that his landlord had him evicted from his residence and won't give them back their personal belongings. MCSO received report from a subject that a male took a videotape and owes him money for the phone bill. HPD received report from a female that another female wanted to go to the hospital but her mother won't let her. MCSO received report from a male subject that his ex- wife is violating her own orders. MCSO. BPD received report of a male who was lost and wanted to find his way to detox. He was taken to his place. Jody Lea Hendricks, 28, was arrested on two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance 11 and two counts Distribution o f a Controlled Substance: She was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with S40.000 bail. MCSO received report of a stolen cell phone. HPD. MCSO received report of an audible burglar alarm at Les Schwab's. It was a false alarm * MCSO received report of a juvenile runaway. May 31: MCSO. OSP received report from a female that a male said he was going to her residence to kill her husband The problem was resolved. MCSO received report of power lines down and arcing on Bombing Range Road HPD received report of a tire alarm at HHS. It was a false alarm. MCSO received report from male subject that he was stuck in snow approximately one mile below top of Coal Mine Rd. with cattle. Later received report that the truck was coming down and services were no longer needed. David Eaton, 30, was arrested on a Morrow County warrant for possessing a stolen vehicle. He was lodged at Airways Corrections Washington Co. with S20.000 bail. Boardman Ambulance received request for an ambulance for a 96-year-old female who had fallen. She was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital. Boardman Ambulance. Medics 2.3 received request for an ambulance for a 40-year old male w ho had been bucked off a horse and rolled on at Three-mile Canyon. The Trauma Team was put on standby and he was transported to Good Shepherd. MCSO received report concerning a suspicious phone call from a supposed business. MC SO received report from a woman that a male subject had given her 16-year old son pot and alcohol. MCSO received report from a male subject that DMV had combined his ID # with another subject's. He said he called DMV who said it was MCSO's problem. BPD. MCSO received report of a fight in progress between a male and female at the 76 station in Boardman and The Nomad. It was between the station manager and a male A 17-year-old male was cited for MIP by consumption. OSP. MCSO received report of a DUII or sleepy driver on 1-84 east-bound. The vehicle was pulled over and drivers had switched at the Boardman rest area because the driver had been sleepy. M C SO , Irrig o n Ambulance received report from a woman that her 68-year old husband was m severe pain after kidney stone surgery. One patient was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital. MCSO received report of a false fire alarm at Heppner High School MCSO received request from male subject for advice on what to do because the caller is being followed. MCSO received report of a semi pulling off the off-ramp in Boardman and not stopping. MCSO received report of livestock out on Highway 74. Owner was contacted. Heppner Ambulance, MCSO received report of a female who had fallen outside, gotten herself in the house, but couldn't get up in her chair. There was no transport. MCSO received report of noisy dogs or wolves and old cars on property. MCSO received report of someone going through private property, taking out a stop sign and county sign at Laurel and Carlson roads with property damage. MCSO received report from an lone woman that they heard a prowler around their residence the previous night and then found their dog dead. MCSO received report of harassing phone calls and someone driving by and flipping them off. MCSO received report of a Jeep Cherokee on Western Ejnput and someone shooting. Officer was unable to locate anyone Irrigon Ambulance received request for ambulance for a 51 -year old male who had hernia surgery and was now in severe pain. He was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital. MCSO, BPD received report of someone in a gray Toyota trying to run a female off the road. June 2: MCSO received report that Columbia Middle School had been spray painted. MCSO received report of a fire alarm at HHS. It was a false alarm. OSP received report of speeding truck and tractor on 1-84 traveling 75-85 mph. OSP, ODOT. MCSO received report of cattle truck on fire on Hwy 207 19.5 miles south of Anson Wright Park. It was out of district. Received report of a female down in the road with an unknown problem. Received report from a woman that her ex-boyfnend had taken their 4 1/2-year old daughter without her wanting to go. She was advised it was a civil problem. B o a rd m a n F ire Department! BFD). MCSO received report from an Irrigon woman that she hadn’t seen her neighbor in a month but she just saw the cat in the window and would like the cat checked on. The neighbor advises that family are taking care of the cat. BPD received report of loud music. BPD received report of a grass fire a mile west of Boardman Condon Police received report from a female in Condon that she is parked in front of a store in Condon and needs assistance getting home because she burned her eyes in a tanning bed. HPD received report of a brown Dachshund hit by a car and under someone's porch crying. Police responded and the dog stayed the night in caller’s vehicle. BPD received report of a possible MIP party. Shayna Mahaylee Osmin-a daughter, Shayna Mahaylee was bom to Staci and Jess Osmin of Heppner on June 8, 2000 at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. The baby weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19” long Shejoins sister Emma at home. Grandparents are Burke and Gin ger O ’Brien and Donna and A1 Osmin, all of Heppner. Great- grandparents are Velma Felt of Heppner, Roseanna King of Pendleton and Gene Majeske of Heppner. Brett Ryan Swanson-a son Brett Ryan was bom to Mark and Jodee (Ashbeck) Swanson of Pendleton, on June 22, 2000. He joins brothers, Shane, five, and Michael, three, at home. Grandparents are Alvin and Julie Ashbeck of Echo, and Geri and the late Wayne Swanson of Pendleton; great-grandparents are Earl and Dolores Ayres of The Dalles and Leo and Mary Ashbeck of Echo. Lexington t lone The Bank of Eastern Oregon, "in a continuing effort to bolster scholarship awards in Morrow, Gilliam and Wheeler counties," has awarded a total of 52,500 to five high school graduates, Justin Nelson, Sam Bates, Corey Miller, Rachel Walsh and Angela McNamee. Justin Nelson, who graduated from Heppner High School, plans to attend Oregon State University in the fall and major in agriculture, business management, land policy and resource law. He intends to use his education to specialize in the field of land and resource rights. Justin's high school career included involvement in the music program, track program and community involvement including leadership in the United Methodist Youth organization. Sam Bates graduated from Condon High School. He plans to major in agricultural business at college. After obtaining his degree, he would like to return home to help run the family farm. Sam's high school career included involvement in FFA, 4- H, band and basketball. Corey Miller graduated from Heppner High School. Corey intends to enroll at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Oregon where he will focus on agriculture and agri-business. He would like to return to his family farm and take an active role in wheat production. Corey stayed active during his high school career with participation in FFA, Wild Horse Club and football and was a member of National Honor Society. Rachel Walsh graduated from Arlington High School. Rachel intends to enroll at Columbia Gorge Community College to study computer applications and office systems. She hopes to manage an office or own her own business some day. Rachel was involved in student government, varsity tennis and the music program while in high school. Angela McNamee graduated from Riverside High School. She plans to enroll at Eastern Oregon University to obtain a degree in accounting with a possible minor in agri-business. Her future could someday include owning her own business. Angela was involved in volleyball, basketball and FFA during her high school years. Each of these students will receive a $500 scholarship in the fall to help them pay for tuition, books, room and board and other college expenses.
