Pastor Phil Oliver officiated. The bride is the daughter of Ned and Patti Kayser of Condon and Bill McCoin, Pendleton. She is a 1997 graduate of Condon High School. The groom is the son of Gordon and Debbie Garthwaite, Merritt, British Columbia, and John and Erica Carfra, Victoria, British Columbia. He is a 1994 graduate of Memtt and a 1997 graduate of Blue Mountain Community College Attending the bride were friends, maid of honor Nikki Connell, Spokane, WA; bridesmaids Angie Meadors, Wetumka, OK, Rayna Prewitt, Sidney, Montana, Tiffany Munkers, lone; Shanna Wilkins, Condon, and Jennifer Ericksen, Hermiston. Junior bridesmaids were friend Alexis Dutre, Pendleton, and sister Kelli Kayser, Condon. Flower girl was cousin, Shelby Kayser, Centerville, WA. Attending the groom were friends, best man, Steve Lloyd, Quenel, British Columbia, groomsmen, Steve Wamock, Pendleton; Shawn Greenfield, Pasco, WA, Joel Edey. Longview, Alberta, Mick Larson, Merritt, and brother. Dennis Garthwaite, Merritt. Junior groomsmen were friend Devon Dutre, Pendleton, and the bride's cousin. Chase MacRae, Centerville, WA. Ring bearer was the bride's cousin, Zane MacRae, Centerville. WA. Candlelighters were the groom's sister, Theresa Garthwaite, Calgary, Alberta, and the bride's brother, Trevor McCoin, Walla Walla, WA. Assisting at the guest book was friend, LeAnne Wasson, The Dalles, and Kara Miller, cousin of the bride. Organist was Julie Lantis, Condon, and soloist was Zack Grooms, Arlington. The Memorial Hall in Condon was decorated with horseshoe table ornaments and barbwire-shaped cowboy boots hung on the walls, along with pictures of the bride and groom. The bride's uncles and aunts, George and Nancy Miller, lone, and Neil and Jill Kayser, Centerville, provided the decorations with help from friends, Garnett Bettencourt, Arlington, Vicki Meadors, Wetumka, OK, and mother and father of the groom. Bob and Erica Carfra, Victoria, British Columbia. Family and friends enjoyed a buffet with roast beef prepared by friends, Duane Johnson, Kenny Humphrey, and Mac Stinchfield of Condon, and many salads provided by friends and family and served by Delene Durfey, Lynn Wilkins, Rita Rattray, Bonnie Parker and cousins. Trinity McCoin and Shannon Hamilton McCoin. The bride's grandmother. Pat Pettyjohn, lone, and Dorothy Zinter of Hermiston made the wedding cake. Dan Bums, DJ, Pendleton, provided the music. Prior to the wedding the couple were guests of honor at an evening barbecue at the home of Bob and Sherree Mahoney, Heppner. Bridal showers were also given the bride in Centerville, WA, and Condon. The couple will make their home in Merritt, British Columbia, where the groom is employed on the family ranch and competes in professional rodeos. The bride will continue rodeoing professionally, and nding and training horses while helping on the ranch. who demonstrates this type of dedication to his or her students. "There are so many qualified teachers at lone that it's hard to choose," commented Swanson's sister-in-law Monica Swanson. Swanson presents the honorees with a monetary award. The presentation was made by Swanson's brother, Jim, lone, lone School Principal Dick Allen and Student Body President Erin Crowell. Monica Swanson said that in presenting the award this year, Crowell made an excellent speech and commented how Holland went the extra distance to make a difference in her education at lone High School. Dale Holland III, lone High School teacher, has been selected to receive this year's Grant Rigby Teacher of the Year award. The award is presented each year by Dennis Swanson, lone High School alumnus who was inspired by Grant Rigby, a teacher at the school who went the extra mile for his students. When Swanson attended high school at lone in the 1950s, he needed an additional course in preparation for college the next fall. Rigby volunteered his mornings before school to help Swanson complete the class. The yard of Lowell and Tonya Jones has been selected by the Heppner Garden Club as the yard of the month for June. The Joneses' yard features a watermill, English-garden type flower beds, a meticulous yard and a flower bed constructed by Lowell with a real bed frame. "I hadn't planned to garden this year," says Tonya. "We planned to play, but it didn't turn out that way. I'm in the garden every day.” The Joneses, who have lived in Heppner since 1976, moved to their current house in 1989 and and planted "every flower in their yard."
