February, 12, defeating the Cougars, 57-28. Nikki McElligott and Camie Bumght were the leaders for lone scoring w ith 16 points each McElligott raised havoc on the boards, bringing down nine rebounds and grabbing four steals for her team Bumght led the Lady Cardinals with six assists. Brandi Brantley brought down six rebounds. Amellia Peck is also responsible for six rebounds and tour steals Shelbv Krebs had an excellent game, coming off the bench and scoring 10 points for the lone team. Krebs canned a three-point shot in the second quarter lone Lady Cardinals dominate Wheeler The lone Lady C ardinals totally dominated Wheeler, defeating the Falcons. 83-23. on Friday, February 11. lone scored 27 points in the first quarter alone and continued their reign of terror, scoring 18 points in the second quarter and 19 points in each the third and fourth quarters. Nikki McElligott led the L.ady Cardinals with 24 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals. Camie Bumght added 18 points to the Cardinal score, robbed six balls, and blocked one shot. Kristina Powell continues to be a reckoning force on the boards, bringing in nine rebounds and blocking three of Wheeler's shot attempts. lone 'C team bovs defeated %/ The lone "C" Team men hosted C ondon on Tuesday, February 8. lone lust couldn't quite get the rhythm needed to overcome Condon and w as defeated. 33-11. Lead scorer for lone was Mike Radie with four points. Karl Morgan was the leader on the boards with six rebounds. Colin McElligott played excellent offense, leading the team in assists. Andrew Rietmann brought down five rebounds, robbed one Devil ball and had two blocked shots. The Cardinal men had a team total of 35 turnovers. Coach Jim Swanson expressed the difficulty the team had. "The boys just had one of those games." he said. "They didn't take care of the ball, but they tried extremely hard." lone JV girls defeat Echo The lone junior varsity w omen defeated Echo. 15-13. in a tight game Saturday . February 12, that ended after two quarters. Cvndi Heagy and Jennifer Thompson each supplied four points to the lone score. Diana McElligott. Sail i McElligott and Nonnee Walters each added two points, while Olivia Thompson scored one basket at the free throw line in the second quarter. Coach Ryan Rudolf commented that he had an enjoyable season. "All the girls improved and 1 expect good things from them next year," said Rudolph. C ardinal boosters to sell apparel with logo The Cardinal Booster Club, at their meeting Monday, Feb. 7, discussed the pizza feed for the Condon games, which was deemed a success. It seemed lone was sailing to an easy win when Echo scored only four points in the third quarter, ending the quarter at 35- 26. but Echo came out in full force in the fourth quarter, adding 19 points to the Cougar score to tie up the score at 45. In overtime, four lone players fouled out before the end of the game leaving a four-on-five situation that eventually dashed the hopes of a Cardinal victory. Adam McCabe and Zac Fabian led the scorers for lone, with 14 points each. McCabe earned nine rebounds and one steal. Fabian scored two baskets from the three-point region and robbed two balls from the Cougars. Dustin Haguewood led the lone men on the boards with 10 rebounds. Haguewood was also responsible for four steals and blocked two Cougar shot attempts. Karl Morgan led the Cardinals with six steals and four rebounds. Dylan Pettyjohn aided the lone larceny with five steals. Pettyjohn also led the team with six assists and contributed six rebounds members agreed, to sponsor a drawing for a free pass to the district tournament, lone fans who have attended all home games are eligible to enter. The drawing will be at the last home game, Friday, Feb. 11. Coach Dennis Stefani has ordered six extra sets of football jerseys for the fall. The club will pay the bill for the jerseys now, with players reimbursing the club in the fall when they pick up their jerseys. The new academic letters and pins for lone students with a GPA of 3.8 or above will be paid for by the club, lhe cost is approximately $410. The club agreed to put paid Cardinal Booster Club members' names on the ad in the district program. A pep assembly for the teams going to the district tournament will be held Thursday, Feb. 17. The next meeting of the Cardinal Booster Club will be Monday. March 6. prepared and donated by Beecher's Cafe. The group agreed to donate the three cases of Gatorade left over from the club's concessions to the teams going to the district tournament. President Debbie Radie brought shirt samples from Hood River Apparel. Members discussed ordering transfers or an embroidery' pattern set up so that community members ordering can order their own shirts, bags, hats or whatever they want with the Cardinal logo. The club members was agreed it was too late in the season to promote selling items and decided to wait until the fall sport season. Members voted to pay the $100 set up fee to have polo shirts embroidered. Members voted to pay the difference between a regular bus and chatter bus so the Cardinal teams can have a charter bus if they go to the state tournament. Radie suggested, and club lone team concedes to Umatilla 1 he lone "C" team traveled to Umatilla February 10 to try out the Viking s impressive new gym but ended up conceding to Umatilla, 42-30. Karl Morgan led the Cardinals with 12 points. Morgan also had seven rebounds and one steal to his credit. Aaron Tworek and Mike Radie added four points each to the Cardinal effort. Andrew Rietmann led the Cardinals in larceny with two steals. lone's coach Jim Swanson was extremely pleased with the level of play the Cardinal men displayed. "It was our best game," he said. "The kids ended the season on a positive note.
