Members of the Cookie Cutters are Cyde Coil and Baillie Keithley. The meeting was held at their leader Julie Proctor's house. At this meeting, they made sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies. After baking them, they decorated the cookies for Christmas. They are giving the cookies to the Heppner firefighters. They decided to do this for community service because the firefighters are people who might have to work on Christmas. This year the club wants to go on a field trip to a bakery. They also want to go to 4 -H camp and have fun in 4 -H. The winners in the 16 yard event were as follows: first Kelwayne Haguewood; second Travis Greenup; third a tie be tween Harvey Childers and Curt Day. The winners in the 20 yard handicap event were: first Travis Greenup; second a tie between Howard Mullins and Curt Day; third Brian Haguewood. The gun club will not hold a shoot for Christm as or New Year’s weekends but will resume shooting every Sunday beginning Jan. 9 at noon. Karaoke Christmas Carols All of the toys pictured above were donated at this year’s Heppner Elks’ giving tree dinner held Friday, Dec. 17. The toys were taken to the Heppner Neighborhood Center for distribution. While in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the National Finals Rodeo Dec. 3-13, Justin Boots awarded the Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo committee's groundsperson, Barry Munkers of Lexington, a gift of $500 and a pair of new Justin Boots for outstanding service to the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. Justin also selected a national winner from all of the circuits in the U.S. and Canada and that winner received $ 1000 and a pair of full quill ostrich Justin boots. The WPRA circuit members also awarded the OTPR Committee with an engraved pewter plate at the CRC luncheon held in Redmond, Nov. 13, in appreciation for the extra effort Heppner's committee goes to in assuring safe, fast and consistent ground conditions throughout the weekend during the Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo in August. This was the second year in a row Heppner has been recognized for this award. In 1998, the Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo, which is always the third weekend in August, placed second. The OTPR committee is seeking past rodeo posters prior to 1997. Many of the old ones have photos of the queen and courts on them. Anyone who has one is asked to contact Mary Ann Munkers at 989-8488. She would like to make a copy of it for the memorabilia wall in the rodeo office. The goal is to find a poster for every year the rodeo has existed.
