Chamber Chatter By Claudia Hughta, Exacutiva Director Fifty-two trees are decked out in miniature lights, thanks to the efforts o f Willow Creek Valley volunteers. These people who help make possible our “small town happening” either own a tree or are adopting a tree. Pat Edmund- son took on the calling task and appreciates all those eager to help. Many involve their children and grandchildren to make it a family effort; others take more than one tree; some create a block party; and some, who are new to Hepp ner, find this an opportunity to get involved. Many had the pleasure o f meeting Margaret Flaherty as she helped distribute lights and hot chocolate at the Chamber office. For one and all, Heppner is most grateful. Speaking o f lights, the cham ber hopes you have your entry for the light parade all ready to go. The nursing home is looking for ward to having entries drive past. Remember to drive slow through the parade and over the hill. The cham ber wishes everyone the best o f luck. It’s a lot of work which gives youngsters and old sters alike an evening to remem ber and a grand finale to a “Stroll Heppner,” complete with Santa, reindeer, music, open houses and hometown shopping. Finley Buttes Landfill is the key sponsor for the festivities, making possible the re indeer and awards. H eppner’s com m unity tree, donated by Columbia Basin, was decked out for the holidays by Tom Rawlins. While smaller than most, it will grow along with fami lies, friends and our community. ’Tis the season to remember hope, faith and love and carry it into the new year.
