Cabbage Hill west-bound lanes open
The Oregon Department of
Transportation is finishing up
Emigrant Hill-Poverty Flats road
construction project. Westbound
lanes at Cabbage Hill were
scheduled to be open to traffic
by August 14.
Asphalt paving o f the passing
lane, shoulders and interchange
ramps is near completion on the
westbound lanes while work
continues on the guard rails, sign
installation and durable striping
Tile sign installation project
involves putting in place speed
signs, runaway ramps signs and
interchange signs.
Surface repairs to the bridge
deck at Poverty Flats are
complete and consisted of a
concrete overlay to extend the
life of the bridge deck.
Through the end of August,
crews will remove the temporary
eastbound concrete barriers.
Motorists can expect periodic
traffic control and lane closures
during this phase of work.
During
daytime
hours,
eastbound traffic will be moved
to one lane while barriers are
removed and the lane striping
work is finished.
The Emigrant Hill-Poverty
Flats construction project began
in the spring of 1997. As a
result of the project, the
westbound lanes will have one
asphalt lane and one concrete
lane. A third lane was added on
the eastbound lanes, w hich now
consist o f three concrete lanes.
This third lane will allow room
for slower traffic to stay to the
right while providing room for
other traffic to pass on the left.
The Oregon Dept, of
Transportation worked with the
contractor. Wildish Standard
Paving of Eugene, to complete
this project.
All work on the project is
scheduled for completion bv
October 3 1.
For more information on the
Emigrant Hill-Poverty Flats
construction project, call Jay
