And, enjoy some delicious snacks made by the parents of day care children. How far can you spit? Generation Jesus Generation Jesus will perform at the Morrow County Fair on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 3:30- 4:30 p.m. Generation Jesus is a Christian alternative rock group performed by Hermiston youth. Lead vocal/keyboard is Mike Moore; lead guitar is Joey Konty; bass guitar is Mike Ritzer; and on drums is Matt Starkey. Generation Jesus is a group of high school students from Hermiston who play alternative rock music and have performed for many area events. They lead the praise and worship for Campus Life of Hermiston and are involved in their own churches as well. They have performed for youth rallies and camps throughout the Northwest including some in Tri-Cities. They are performing on the main stage at this year's Umatilla County Fair. The group writes their own music and lyrics, but also plays some familiar songs. The name Generation Jesus was chosen because they wanted to show that they are a new generation for Jesus, said a group spokesperson. Have you been eating watermelon this summer? What have you been doing with the seeds? Fair organizers hope that you have been practicing spitting them in order to participate in the Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest to be held on Thursday, August 18, at 4 p.m. Sign up in the grass by the beef bam. The contest is sponsored by the Herm iston W atermelon Growers. Come out, eat a free slice of watermelon and see how far you can spit your three seeds. Hermiston Watermelon T- shirts will be awarded to the winner in each age category (men's, women's, youth 8-15 and children under eight years). Sign up in the grass by the beef bam. See you there! Each bingo card is .50 cents. Prizes have been donated by businesses and individuals. Special prizes are awarded for blackouts. Come check out the donated items and see if any appeal to you. It might be the best 50 cents you ever spent. Murray's wine tasting featured Murray’s Country Rose will be back at the fair featuring wine and beer tasting. The musical group, Absolutely Nobody, will entertain everyone with their unique musical talents. Again this year is the "Twice Around" Style Review. Different merchants will have models modeling used clothing for all ages. The band "One Tall Boot,” previously known as Ruemers, will perform at fair on Thursday. August 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. Last year they attracted a large crowd while playing country music and southern rock. So come on down to the outdoor stage in the picnic area and do some "Scootin' and A Bootm" to the music of "One Tall Boot.” The Morrow County Fair is excited to have the opportunity to have Lisa Marie come and sing at the fair again this year. "She was able to entertain us two years ago with her upbeat contemporary Christian music and we are truly blessed that she is coming again on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.," said a fair spokesperson.
