Celebrate Heppner! EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 4, 1999 Tractor classes held A Tractor Operation and Equipment Safety Class was held at lone High School on June 11- 12 . Nine local 4-H members attended the class: Jacob Neiffer, Paul Neiffer, Adam Neiffer, Dustin Griffin, Cameron Krebs, Adam McCabe, Karl Morgan, Andrew Rietmann and Curtis Thompson. The class was broken down into three sections: safe hands-on operation o f tractors and equipment, classroom instruction and videos, and testing, both hands-on and paper. All participants passed and received their "Tractor Operator Certificate." The class was conducted by Rick Danielson of Riverside High School, Ag. He was assisted by Lynn Harmonson, Heppner High School, Ag. Journeyman Millwright Gilchrist, Oregon Progressive wood products company seeking self-motivated, experienced Journeyman Millwright. Must possess ,i minimum of 5 years experience in millwright field Must be proficient in trouble-shooung equipment, hydraulic & air systems, welding, cutting, fabrication. Winners are as follows: Kelly Holland-canvas bag from Klamath First Federal; Blair Keithley, Donna Neal, Erik Food handler's class planned »e A food handler's class will be held on Monday, Aug. 9, at the Heppner High School cafeteria beginning at 6:30 p.m. Participants may register at the class. The cost is a $10 licensing fee, payable to the State Health Division. Food handler cards are required by the State of Oregon for all employees who handle or prepare food in food service facilities in the state, including cooks, dishwashers, waiters and other staff. Coast to Coast Heppner And "Celebrate Heppner" we did. The streets of Heppner were busy as citizens and visitors shopped, participated in games, ate and visited. Coast to Coast, celebrating its 15th birthday, went through over 200 hot dogs and Central Red Apple gave away all their cupcakes. The Chamber dunk tank, organized by Tom Wolff, was a popular spot as good sports in all sorts of attire took their tum at being dunked. Wonder how much Cliff Green's wet Levis, tennis shoes, etc., weighed as he got back on again and again and again? Dan Brosnan went in 17 times. Guess he counted to keep from freezing. Seems some "friends" Patton, Roe Gardner, Pat added ice when Pat Sweeney Sweeney, Sybil Cunnington, Lisa was on board and continued that Smith, Chirella Wallace, Roberta habit throughout day. All Howard, Bill Howard and dunkees were great the sports. The community will be hearing much more about that in the future and hopefully, visitors to Ireland can drop by. The day came to a close as people enjoyed enchiladas by the Ministerial Association or steaks at the fairgrounds. The Wilkinson building was dedicated and families spent the remainder of the evening listening to Zac Grooms, compliments o f the Fair Committee. Heppner knows how to have fun and it happens when we all work together. You're a great community. Next week at Chamber the Morrow County Fair & Oregon Trail Pro-Rodeo Court will be guests. The Chamber meets upstairs at Kate’s every Tuesday at noon.
