tion. The person had allegedly
been going 100+ mph and hitting
the guardrail before Arlington.
Boardman Police Dept, backed up
the deputy. Tommie Lee Thomas,
34, was cited for Driving while
Licensed Suspended Felony.
MCSO received a report of a
six year old who had not returned
home in Lexington by 9:27. He
was last seen at 4 p.m.; he said
he was going to the creek. The
boy was located
April 19: MCSO received a
report of a blood-soaked towel
behind a refrigerator in Irrigon.

BMCC, CAPECO to offer
corrections course
Blue Mountain Community
College, Community Action
Program East Central Oregon
and the Oregon Department of
Corrections are again teaming
together to offer "Careers in the
Oregon
Department
of
Corrections" (CODOC).
CODOC is a short-term
training opportunity to be held in
Pendleton at the Umatilla
County Criminal Justice Center
(new county jail). The intent of
the training is to prepare
participants
for
formal
application for employment with
the Department of Corrections.
The focus is general and is for
persons interested in positions in
any capacity, including food
service, maintenance, medical
service, clerical or corrections
officers.
The training will begin on
Monday, June 7, and end on July
9.
Classes meet Monday
through Friday from 8 a.m. - 3
p.m. with a lunch break.
The application process begins
immediately and must be
completed
by
May
24.
Participants must be at least 21 •
years of age and are expected to
complete the following: a
CODOC application; an ASSET
placement test at BMCC's
Pendleton campus ( the test is
offered on Monday or Thursday
at 9 a.m. and there is a $10
testing fee); a drug screening
test; a background check; and
confirmation of a high school
diploma or GED certificate.
Admission to the program will
include an orientation/interview
with a panel of correctional
personnel.
Included with the training is
integrated work experience. The
work experience is held in a
"secure correctional setting”.
Students will have direct inmate
contact under supervision of
correctional staff as assigned at
area facilities.
Cost for the five week program
is $555 and students who
successfully
complete
the
program will receive a Blue
Mountain Community College
certificate of completion.
