Both the Heppner High School boys’ and girls' teams went to district. The girls' team went on to the state
2A competition March 2-6 at Pendleton.. The HHS girls lost to Amity on Monday and were to play Monroe
on Wednesday. If they win that game, they will play Friday at Pendleton High School at 8 a m.; if they win
Friday's game, they will play Saturday at the convention center at 8 a.m.

In boys' varsity action,
Wheeler outscored lone, 52-41
Wheeler led lone by three, 7-1 0,
at the end of the first quarter but
the Falcons scored an additional
14 points in the second quarter
to lone's four points, clinching
the lead at the end of the first
half, 24-11.
lone's best quarter came in the
third quarter with 16 points
added to the scoreboard Allan
Gribskov made a three-point
shot in the third quarter and
Mark McElligott canned three
buckets from the three-point
range in the second half.
Gribskov led the lone crew
with 12 points, followed by Brad
Burright with 11 points. Bur
right also brought down 13
rebounds and grabbed a steal
from
the
Falcons.
Mark
McElligott added nine points,
six rebounds, six steals, six
assists and one blocked shot for
the Cardinals.

The Heppner Mustangs boys’
“C” team finished its season with
convincing wins over Spray, 51-
22, and Umatilla, 68-42. The Mus
tangs had a very good year under
first year coach Kenny Eckman,
with a 12-4 overall record.
Against Spray on Thursday,
Feb. 11, the Mustangs got six
points each from Justin Wood and
Michael McCabe tojump out to a
19-6 lead after one.

According to John Fletcher,

SBDC,
participants will also receive free'
disks for testing their computers
in a simulated Y2K rollover and
Y2K compliance information
packets.
The class will be held Friday,
March 5, with sessions in
Pendleton and Hermiston. The
first session will be held from 10
a m. to noon at the SBDC office
in Pendleton, 37 S.E. Donon.
The second session will be held
from 2-4 p.m. at the West
Campus in Hermiston.

fourth quarter, Sam Van Liew

Mustangs to the 68-42 win.
Norton scored 13 points to lead
the Mustangs, with Van Liew add
ing nine points. McCabe and
Matheny each hit a three-pointer
and added seven points. Young,
Rill and Bellamy each chipped in
with six points.

Mustangs coasted from there for
the 51-22 win.
Wood led a balanced scoring
