TWO - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 6,1999 Obituaries Margery E. Robinson Margery E. Robinson, 72, of Boardman, died Tuesday, Decem ber 22, 1998, at St. Vincent Hos pital in Portland. Disposition was by cremation. A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Dodge City Inn in Boardman January 8, 1999, at 3 p.m. Mrs. Robinson was bom Janu ary 16, 1926, at Hammond, Indi ana. She married Richard Baldwin and the couple moved to the Northwest where Mr. Baldwin was employed by the Forest Ser vice. They lived at a number of ranger stations in Montana and Idaho. The couple later divorced. She later m arried Jay H. Robinson. The couple came from Missoula, Montana, to Boardman Mrs. Robinson enjoyed playing cards, knitting, dancing, traveling and entertaining. Survivors include her husband, Jay H. Robinson, at the home; children, Susan Baldwin of Prescott, Arizona; Neal Baldwin o f Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Rex Baldwin of Rawlins, Wyo ming; two grandsons; her mother, Myrtle Eisele of Hermiston; step daughter, Judy Brown, and step son, David Robinson; stepgrand- children and one great-grandson. Alena Ann Anderson Alena Ann Anderson, 92, formerly of Heppner, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at the Shepherd Care center at Tualatin. Graveside service and interment was Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Johnson officiating. Alena Ann Anderson was bom to Lawrence and Laura Etta (Scott) Redding on September 29, 1906, on the family homestead near Lexington. The family moved to Missouri in 1912 to assist her grandparents on their farm near the Osage River. Upon returning to Oregon in 1915, they bought a farm at Eightmile and farmed there for many years. She graduated from Heppner High School and attended Oregon Normal School (now Western Oregon University) to earn a teaching degree. She taught at Hail Ridge, Athena, Eightmile, Rocky Bluff, Gooseberry and Twin Pine on Rhea Creek. On December 25, 1934, she married Harold E. Anderson. They farmed in the lone and Eightmile areas until his death in 1944. She sold the farm and moved to Heppner with her three daughters. In 1950, she married Ervin Anderson. She kept books for their business, Anderson's Builders Supply in Heppner until they sold the business. In 1965, she went to Portland State University to renew her teaching certificate. She taught in the Heppner Elementary School until her retirement in 1972. Ervin died in 1983. In 1988, Alena sold her home and moved to Hillsboro, where she lived until moving to Tualatin about one and a half years ago. She was a Campfire Girl leader for many years. She volunteered for many years at the Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed many summers with her grandchildren. Survivors include daughters, Dee Erdmann and husband Jim of Aumsville, Nancy McLennan and husband Phil of Hillsboro and Carol Porter of Concord, New Hampshire; one brother, Boyd Redding and wife Lois of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren, Lisa, Shelly, and Alison Parent, Suzanne Gehring, and Richard and Cory Porter; three great-grandchildren, Jake Gehring, Hayley Ney, and Leah Parent-Korsness; three nieces and two nephews; and her students, those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. Arrangements were in care of Attrell's Sherwood Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 9, Heppner, Oregon 97836. The Mustangs defeated the Wallowa Cougars, 52-40, on Friday, but lost to the Stanfield Tigers, 48-34, in the championship game on Satur day. Against Wallowa, the Mus tangs took a 10-7 lead after the first quarter but fell behind at half time, 25-22. The Cougars still led 34-32 going into the fourth quar ter but the Mustangs outscored Wallowa 20-6 in the fourth to win going away 52-40. The Mustangs made 17 of 23 free throws for the game. Tim Dickenson made nine of 12 free throws and finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Craig Scott scored 15 points and Casey Evans finished with eight points. Derek Gunderson dished out four assists and hit a three-pointer. Ryan Matteson had six steals. The Mustangs came right back on a field goal by Scott and a three-pointer by Evans, a free throw by Dickenson and a basket by Jared Eckman gave the Mustangs a 10-3 lead. The Tigers outscored Heppner 8- 1 for the rest of the quarter to tie the game at 11-11 after one. The Tigers outscored the Mus tangs 9-8 in the second to take a 20-19 lead at halftime. Both teams traded baskets to start the third quarter and Matteson and Dickenson each hit a free throw to give the Mustangs their last lead of the game at 25- 14. Sherman came back to hit a three-pointer as the Tigers went on a 9-2 run. Matteson hit a three- pointer to cut the lead to 34-30 at the end of the third quarter. The Mustangs then went cold. A basket by Evans with 2:55 left cut the Stanfield lead to 40-32. Heppner didn’t score again until Scott made a basket in the final minute, as Stanfield outscored Heppner 14-4 in the fourth quar ter. The Tigers made 10 of 14 free throws in the quarter. Evans led the Mustangs with nine points. Scott scored eight and Eckman, six. Dickenson was named to the All-Tournament Team. The M ustangs non-league record was 4-2 after the tourna ment.
