The dinner provides area residents who otherwise might spend Christmas alone with an evening o f holiday cheer, said a BMCC news release. The festivities include a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, a musical program in the theater, a special room for children who prefer to play games and listen to stories and a visit from Santa with gifts for everyone. The dinner and program are continuous, starting at 5 p.m. with the dining room closing at 6:30 p.m. Santa also arrives at 6:30 p.m. Through the years the dinner has become a BMCC holiday tradition. The Associated Student Government coordinates the event, receiving help from staff members, administration, alumni and community members. Last year over 600 guests attended the dinner. As in the past, transportation will be provided for people who do not own cars or who are unable to drive at night. In addition, meals will be provided to shut-ins. People in need of either service should call 278- 5929 or 278-5930. According to GeneAnn McLean, director o f student activities, donations are vital to the success o f the dinner which is offered free o f charge. Donations may be sent to BMCC Christmas '97, P.O. Box 100, Pendleton, OR, 97801. Checks may be made payable to Christmas '97.
