Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, December 10,1997 - FIVE Sheriff's Report The Morrow County Sheriffs office reports handling or dispatching the following business during the past several weeks: Nov. 23. M C SO received a re port o f a suspicious vehicle at Woodlands Trailer Court in Irri- gon. M CSO received a report o f the theft o f a battery, cables and ter minals in Boardman. M C SO received a report o f a 16 year old girl assaulted by an older woman. M C SO received a report o f an alarm at Bank o f Eastern Oregon in Heppner. It was only an em ployee error. M C SO received a report o f a small vapor leak at the A rm y Depot M55 Rocket Storage. Em ployees were on the scene with an air filter and didn’ t believe it was a threat to the public. MCSO deputy, Heppner Police and Fire depts. and Kinzua re sponded to a report o f a log truck that lost its load on M ay Street in Heppner. Kinzua was contacted and sent equipment to assist. The accident blocked traffic, but no injuries occurred. M C S O received a report o f potato trucks parking on private property. Heppner Police and Fire depts., Heppner ambulance and Looslie Tow responded to a report o f a pickup that ran into the bridge near Water and Gale streets. One woman with unknown injuries was taken by private vehicle to Pioneer M em orial Hospital in Heppner. The woman was ar rested for Driving W hile Under the Influence o f Intoxicants. M C SO received a request to deliver a message to a man hunt ing in the area. The man’ s mother was in the hospital and not doing well. N ov. 24: M C SO received a re port o f a man with a knife walk ing around a house in Imgon. The man went into the house where he lives and threatened to kill himself. Mental Health was con tacted and made an appointment for the man. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman ambulance a report o f a one month old infant running a fever. The child had a fever o f 99.1 with a slight red rash on its chest. Transport was refused. Nov. 25: M C SO received a re port o f a non-injury accident in front o f the police station. M C SO received a report o f a lost B eagle puppy at Country Garden Estates. M C SO received a request to watch a home in Im gon. M C SO received a report o f a man cutting his neighbor’ s fence in Im gon, saying he had a right to do so. M C S O received a report o f missing car ramps at an Im gon residence. M C SO received a report o f a woman in Lexington who said she was sleeping on the couch when her husband grabbed her arm, twisting it and leaving red marks. M C SO received a report o f two Shetland ponies on W ilson Road by the elem en tary school in Boardman. M C SO received a report o f a security alarm at a residence in Boardman. M C SO received a report o f a lost Boston bull terrier in Imgon. M C SO received a request o f a house check in Boardman. M C S O dispatched to the Gilliam County S h e riff s office a report from a small child that his uncle was beating up his dad. Child hung up, so call was traced. Everything was okay; no assault occurred. M C S O received a report o f dogs coming in the neighbor’ s yard and attacking a dog. M C SO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f an apartment broken into in Hepp ner, w ith m oney, checkbook, bank cards taken. M C S O received a report o f loud music at the Irrigon M obile Court. M C SO received a report o f a man refusing to leave Dodge City Restaurant in Boardman. M C S O received a report o f neighbor’ s dogs barking for hours in Boardman. N ov. 27: M C SO received a re port o f a cow out on Basey Can yon at the top o f Heppner Hill. M C SO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f ju ve niles throwing pine cones at a door at Mt. Glen Apts, in Hepp ner and refusing to stop. The man was dressed all in blue with a blue stocking cap with an orange stain on it; he was skinny and scruffy. He was hang ing around the station for a long time asking questions. He finally went to the church to get some thing to eat. M C S O depu ty, Boardm an Emergency Medical Technicians responded to a report o f a man who said he had low blood sugar and hypertension and was going to die. The patient was trans ported to Good Shepherd Com munity Hospital in Hermiston. M C S O received a report o f loud music at a residence in the West Glenn area. M C SO received a report o f a person in a car with the lights out vandalizing mail boxes in Imgon. N ov. 28: M CSO received a re quest from Dodge C ity Inn in Boardman for assistance in the removal o f a very loud truck. No one in the truck responded and the truck had been running since the previous night. N o one was dis covered inside. It was determined that the subject had rented a room and had been there for two days. The subject was located and moved his truck. M CSO received a request from a man for a welfare check on his brother whom he had not been able to contact for two weeks. The subject was contacted and ad vised to call his brother. M C SO received a report o f ha rassing phone calls in Boardman. For the past two weeks, a woman had called and said, “ W e ’re gonna get you.” M CSO received a report o f a mail box destroyed in Im gon. M CSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f civil problems between a man, his sis ter and brother-in-law in Hepp ner over the sale o f a car. M CSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f miss ing g o lf clubs from a woman in Heppner. M CSO deputy, Boardman Po lice Dept, responded to a report o f an attem pted b reak -in in progress at the Outback Apts, in Boardman. M C S O received a report o f hunters shooting behind Tidew a ter in a no-huntmg area. M CSO received a report o f a missing bottle jack taken from B & C repair shop. M C S O dispatch ed to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a man in a Datsun trying to hit a pedestrian in Boardman. MCSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a request for a welfare check on five children in Heppner. M C SO received a report from the Hermiston Police Dept, that six members o f the south side AAA/B row n Pride Gang were arrested and other members o f the gang left the police dept, threat ening the police. M CSO received a report o f a fender-bender in Im gon. M C S O received a report o f overdue hunters who were to have returned home at Crooked River Ranch on Wednesday. The hunt ers returned later. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a possible break-in attempt at a residence in Boardman. M C SO dispatched to the City o f Im gon crew' a report o f a slurry spill on Division Street in Imgon. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a large dog threatening a woman’ s Pomeranians. M CSO received a report o f a person in a small w hite car shooting while heading towards lone. The person said they fired at a pheasant. M C SO received a report o f a deer down near Heppner. M C SO received a report o f a woman who locked her keys in her car at Country Garden Estates in Im gon. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f minors having a party, possi bly fighting and a car which may have been hit by another vehicle at Sandpiper Apts, in Boardman. M C SO deputy, Oregon State Police, Boardman Police Dept, and Boardman ambulance re sponded to the Sandpiper Apts, in Boardman. Tw o people called to say that officers needed assis tance. An ambulance was re quested and capstun had been used. Vincent Muniz, 20, was ar rested on M orrow County and BPD charges for assaulting a po lice officer, resisting anest, inter fering with police, disorderly con duct, menacing and BPD charges o f interference /governmental process. Maria Caraveo, 47, was arrested on BPD charges for fur nishing alcohol to minors, resist ing arrest, assault on a police o f ficer, disorderly conduct and in terfering with police. John A. Muniz, 18, was arrested on BPD charges o f interfering with a po lice officer. N ov. 30: M CSO received a re port o f a puppy barking at a resi dence and people were not be lieved to have been home for days. M C SO received a report o f a man and woman fighting at a resi dence in Imgon. M CSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept., Heppner ambu lance a report o f a woman lying in the street on the west end o f Pioneer Memorial Hospital. M CSO received a report o f a theft o f equipment in Imgon. M CSO received a report o f a missing person. M CSO received a report from a person at the senior center that a woman was having numbness in her left arm and irregular breathing. CPR was initiated and the woman was transported to M C SO received a report o f a civil dispute over a car. Owner gave the car to be repaired and the person who was to have repaired it refused to return it. Dec. 3: M C SO received a re port o f a suspicious vehicle at Country Garden Estates in Irri gon. A van had turned o f f its lights and stopped behind a heat ing and air conditioning service truck. When the person stepped out o f her house, the van took off. M C SO dispatched to the Or egon State Police a report o f a transient carrying a plastic bag wandering around B eef N.W . M C S O dispatched to the Boardman ambulance a request for an ambulance at a Boardman rest area because a driver o f a freightlmer had injured his back. M C S O dispatch ed to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a suspicious car at M orrow Estates, Boardman. M C SO received a report o f 30 head o f cattle on the highway be tween Heppner and Condon. M C SO received a request to check a load on a truck parked at the eastbound rest area. M C SO received a report that cattle were run o f f the road onto C RP land. Unable to contact the owner. M C SO received a report o f a camp trailer broken into. M CSO received a report o f sur round-sound stereo missing from a Boardman residence when the owner woke up. Pioneer M em orial Hospital in Heppner. M C SO received a report o f a man who hadn ’ t returned hi s chil dren to his ex-w ife by the ap pointed time. M C SO dispatched to the Uma tilla Police Dept, a report o f a man wanted for Driving While License Suspended felony seen driving in Irrigon. Dec. 1: M CSO received a re port o f a student at Riverside High School in Boardman that was out o f control. Dec. 1 : M C SO deputy found a wallet on Second St. in Im gon. M C SO received a report o f a pickup wrecked and a rifle miss ing or stolen. M C SO received a complaint against a landlord in Imgon. Ten ant said landlord was giving her citations while everyone else was doing the same thing. M C SO received a report o f a suspicious male walking south on Third St. in Irrigon. M CSO received a report o f a woman earlier reported missing located at her mother’ s house. M CSO received a report o f a suspicious male who came up to a house and asked about the oc cupant o f the house in Irrigon. Dec. 2: M CSO dispatched to the Heppner Police Dept, a report o f a vehicle running bus lights at Heppner Elementary School. M CSO received a report from an Im gon resident o f a possible credit card scam over the phone. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman ambulance a report o f a man on 1-84 milepost 151 east- bound who said he was dizzy and has tightness in his chest. The patient was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital. M CSO received a report o f a vehicle hit by another vehicle. The driver was reported to be un insured. MCSO received a report o f an alarm at the M C Planning Dept, in Imgon. Turned out to be a false alarm. MCSO dispatched to the State Forestry a report o f a forest fire south o f Cutsforth Park on W il low Creek highway. Four fires topped trees on the east side o f the highway. The fires ended up being on Kinzua Resources land; they were slash pile bums that got out ofhand. M C S O received a report o f possible animal abuse at a resi dence in Im gon. The neighbor didn’ t believe the dogs were be ing taken care o f properly. M C S O received a report o f possible sexual abuse. M C S O received a report o f deer hit on 1-84 milepost 168 east- bound. The deer blocking the road was removed. M C S O received a report o f people, who were kicked out o f their trailer because they were behind on payments, taking the washer, dryer and lawnmower with them. M CSO received a report o f ap proximately 20 males in a fight at the soccer field in Boardman. Three vehicles left in different direction and some o f the males took o f f on foot. M CSO received a report from Im gon o f a neighbor’ s obnoxious pheasants because o f their drop pings. M C S O received a report o f cow s out on H ighw ay 206 at Valby Road. M C S O received a report o f high school kids walking across a yard to get to school in Imgon. The owner was afraid his dog would bite them and was con cerned about liability. M C SO received a request for an officer concerning a group o f teenagers harassing a woman’ s grandchildren. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman Police Dept, a report o f a suspicious male at the Texaco Station and C & D D rive-In in Boardman. M C SO received a request for a mental health worker. Dec. 4: M C SO dispatched to the Hermiston Police Dept, a re port o f a man rubbing up against a woman on a bus and another man pulling her hair. The woman said the driver refused to ac knowledge there was a problem. The woman said she couldn’t wait for an officer because she was afraid the bus would leave with out her. H erm iston p o lic e checked on the situation and it was determined the man was a mental subject. N o action was taken. M C SO received a report o f a black cable believed to be a T V cable laying across a pickup in Heppner. Heppner T V was ad vised. M CSO received a request from Columbia Middle School in Irri gon for an officer to cite juveniles for Minor in Possession-Tobacco. M CSO received a request for an officer for a shoplifter at Sen try Market in Im gon. M CSO deputy reported that he was chasing a man who had taken o f f running at the C olu m bia Learning Center in Im gon. M CSO received a report o f a structural fire fully engulfed in Imgon. M CSO received a report o f a disturbance between sisters over their children at a residence in Ir rigon. M CSO received a report o f a missing border collie. A woman and her baby w ere taken by M C S O deputy to a relative’ s home in Hermiston. M C SO assisted the Heppner Police Dept, with traffic control for the light parade in Heppner. Heppner Police Dept, arrested Gary Francis Newkirk, 33, on six charges o f Sexual Abuse, two counts o f Attempted Rape 1 and one count o f Rape I. Newkirk was remanded to the custody o f the MCSO. M CSO received a request for a welfare check on a man’ s sis ter. M CSO received a report o f an audible alarm at C o lu m b ia Middle School in Im gon. It was a false alarm. M C SO received a report from a woman who said her husband, who has Alzheimer’ s, hit her. The family is trying to get him into a hospital to be cared for. M CSO deputy, Oregon State Police responded to a report o f a drive-off from the Boardman BP station. Dec. 5: MCSO, Boardman Po lice Dept, received a report o f a man possibly D U II at Nom ad Apts, in Boardman. The car was at a residence and the hood was cold. MCSO deputy, Heppner ambu lance responded to a report o f a man burned from the chest down when he fell into a tank o f hot water at Kinzua. Bryon Zumwalt, Lexington, was airlifted to a bum center in Portland. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman ambulance a report o f a five year old child bleeding at the Sandpiper Apts, in Boardman. N o transport was made. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman ambulance a report o f a clerk who had fainted for 10 m inutes at Lam b W eston in Boardman. Heppner Police Dept., Heppner ambulance responded to a report o f a man who had fallen and was unable to get up. The man, com plaining o f hip pain, had dned blood on his forehead. M C SO received a request for an welfare check on a man by His brother who was concerned. The man, who is medication, was last seen buying cigarettes at Brown’s just prior to his house burning down. M C SO received a report from a woman who said she had re ceived two phone calls from a man who threatened to kill her husband i f he didn’ t stop sleep ing with the caller’ s wife. M C SO received a report o f a missing Boston bull terrier. M CSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report o f a wal let left in one o f Les Schwab’ s service rigs in Heppner. M CSO received a request from a woman who wanted to pick up her purse from the annex build ing in Imgon. M CSO , Oregon State Police responded to a report o f a vehicle driving erratically on 1-84 west bound, milepost 183-184. M C S O dispatched to the Boardman Police Dept, a request for an officer concerning forged checks. M CSO dispatched to the Hepp ner Police Dept, a report from the Oregon State Police o f a vehicle stolen from the Buttercreek area that may be heading to Heppner.
