Since pioneer days, sourdough
has been a Western staple. The
tangy flavor has delighted
generations in breads, pancakes,
and other baked goods.
The Morrow and Umatilla
Family community Education
(FCE) program will offer a free
sourdough cookery workshop to
members and the general public,
Wednesday, September 24, at the
Athena Catholic Church Hall.
The workshop will begin
promptly at 10 a.m.
According to Carol Michael,

Basin
studied
sourdough cookery in the late
1960s.
The techniques and
recipes shared at the early
workshop have been used,
adapted, revised, and weli
traveled in the past 30 years. In
the course of travel, some of the
recipes have lost their connection
to the name of the originator.
