Kids work together to build mini-golf course at lone Library program.
The lone Public Library's
summer program, "Books and
Beyond-Hobbies and Interest for
Life" was a big success. During
the span of the six week program
34 children attended, 140 books
were checked out, and children
reported reading over 700 books
Some of the most popular
projects were building a mini-
golf course out of recycled
materials and game making (both
themed after their favorite books)
and clay modeling.
Michelle Raible, leader of this
year's program, said she was very
) pleased with the turn out and
enthusiasm of the participants.
"The children were always very
excited to be there," said Raible.
"We also bad several parents and
young teens help out. With 19 to
20 busy bodies each session,
their help was greatly
appreciated."
The Tone Topic Club members
(supporters of the library)
provided snacks for each session.
"The first day our theme was
collecting," said Raible and Lea
Mathieu brought her angel
collection and angel-shaped
cookies. I thought that was so
great and the children really
loved it."
The program ended with each
child attending getting a
certificate and prize. Top readers
included Mary and Kylie
McElligott and Katie West (over
100 books each), Paul and Matt
Hams (over 70 books) and Katie
Vosberg (60 books).
