St. Patrick's Senior Center
___ Bulletin Board
Even though the seniors find it difficult to get across the street to
the Post Office, they enjoy watching the construction activities from
the front windows of the center. The senior dinner and breakfast
have been well attended in spite of the problems of getting around
town. Main Street will look so great when the project is finished.
There were 78 present for the senior dinner Aug. 20, and nine
meals were home delivered. Members of the Hope and Valby
Lutheran churches served.
The menu for the Labor Day dinner Sept. 3 will be barbecued
hamburger, pasta salad, cottage cheese with fruit and watermelon.
Members of the lone United Church of Christ will serve. The
Nutrition Site Committee will meet at 1 p.m. Hearing aid assistance
will be given at 10 a.m. and blood pressufes taken at 11 a.m.
A small coin purse was found in front of the Senior Center before
the dinner Aug. 20. It may be claimed at the center office, after
giving the receptionist the description of the purse.
Thirty were present for the breakfast Aug. 22, and three meals
were home delivered. The menu for breakfast Aug. 29 will be
waffles, fruit, hot and cold cereal, orange juice, milk, coffee and tea.
The breakfast Sept. 5 will be quiche, fruit, hot and cold cereal, juice,
milk, tea and coffee.
Two tables of pinochle were in play Friday afternoon, Aug. 22.
Seven seniors watched the movie, "Shine", Sunday evening.
There is a sign up sheet for the bus trip to the Pendleton Round-Up.
Those wishing to go may sign up in the office, or call 676-9030.
car wash and hope to upgrade
more in the next few years.
Next year they plan on
installing a new dollar bill
changer and within the next
several years hope to put in a
foamy brush system, which will
add an additional $5,500 in
improvements.
In April the Millers plan to tear
out the current truck bay, on the
outside of the car wash and pour
new concrete.
The Millers, who purchased
the car wash seven years ago,
say that they believe the facility
hasn't been upgraded in about 20
years.
The car wash also has a new
yard light which will be on all
night. Lights will be on in the
vacuum and washing bays until
11 p.m.
Cost is 75 cents for a car wash;
$1 for vacuuming; and $2.50 for
shampooing.
Anyone needed quarters to use
the car wash facility may go to
Miller's Mini Mart. The Millers
have owned the gas station and
convenience store in Heppner
since 1988.
