August 6,1997 Fair features varied entertainment The Morrow County Fair Committee has tried hard to bring entertainment this year for ail ages and everyone's tastes. For the kids, Rick and Sidney, a ventriloquist act from Portland, will be on stage at noon and again at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13. Everyone is invited to come and find out who is the real dummy. Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. is the Classic Auto Show with local entries. Murray Drugs owners, John and Anne Murray, will be selling wine, beer, cold coffee and fruit drinks for everyone to enjoy Cross Country Band members, Todd Asher and Howard Dyer from Fossil, will play for everyone's listening and dancing pleasure at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Thursday a folk group from Idaho, the Mountain Aires, will perform at noon and 3 p.m. In the afternoon local talent will perform a variety of acts for 7TT ages. Come and see your neighbor in action. Rick and Sidney Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Lisa Mane, an accomplished religious singer from Yakima who has performed in many concerts, will be on stage. Friday a balloonist will be strolling around the fairgrounds making interesting figures with his balloons. At 6 p.m. Friday, The Doughertys, who performed on St. Patrick's Day in Heppner, will perform on stage. Stop by and say "hi" while you enjoy the 14-member family group. Saturday Tim Cundell will sing from 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 9:30 p.m. there will be Karaoke with Tom and Linda Lohuis. Everyone is invited to come and sing your heart out to your favorite songs. Uli Odiuiuay, nug. iu , aiiiuvu, 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., the Morrow County Fair will have Taffy Carlisle, a country and western singer from Oregon City perform in place of Sara Gallagher, who will be unable to attend. Awards program planned Aug. 16 Do you ever feel there is too much focus on what is wrong with youth today? Here is your chance to see what is great about Morrow County youth - attend the Morrow County Fair awards program. Saturday, August 16, at 4:30 p.m. in the Livestock Pavilion. The awards program is a must for 4-H and FFA youth, parents and leaders and anyone who enjoys young people. At the awards program, the 4-H and FFA awards are given, as 1 Bobboli thin pizza crust '/i pkg. Mix ranch dressing and 1 cup sour cream. Spread on crust to edges. Lay remaining ingredients on crust. Cut into wedges and serve. volunteers through the donor campaign or Snack Shack operation. These awards are separate from fair premium awards. Every youth who completes project requirements, registers for fair on time and competes is a winner. Make a Fajita?. . . Taco Soup? All of these were dishes prepared in 1996 4-H food preparation contests and sampled by appreciative audiences. Food preparation contests, featuring products of the Pacific Northwest, will begin on Wednesday, August 15, with Junior Cookie, Sandwich/Salad Making, Snack and Measuring contests. Quick and Easy Ground Beef Dishes, Intermediate and Senior Food Preparation contests will take place on Thursday, August well as Open Class Creative Hand Award. It is always fun to see older youth receive the traditional "Grand Champion" and "Outstanding . . ." awards. But is also fun to see younger members receive the "Champion Junior Cookie Maker" or "Most Enthusiastic Beginner Livestock Member" awards.
