Luke Swanson to play on all-star team Luke Swanson, 1997 lone High School graduating senior, was selected to represent District 3 as a member of the 1997 OHSCA East All Star Basketball Team. The two-game series versus the West team is set for Friday, June 20, at Mt. Hood Community College and Saturday, June 21, at Linfield College in McMinnville. Willow Creek Country Club held its annual Memorial Day Family Barbecue on May 26. Chairperson Rollie and Debbie Marshall had help from Jim and Cam W ishart, Ernie and Sue Atkins, and Dave and Karen Wildman. The format for the day was a four-person best ball scramble with two teams coming in first place. The teams of Atkins/Wildman and Sonstegard/M itchell each shot three under 27s for the nine hold event. John Edmundson, Mark and Knsti Smalley, and Joyce Dinkins shot 28. Special events went to Sue Atkins, Bob Jepsen and Dave Hanna, each with long putts for the day. A total o f 34 golfers partici pated in the scramble. Britt Excavating is completing the excavation and furnishing rock. Asphalt will be layed this Thursday. MCGG General Manager Larry Mills said Tuesday that he hopes to have the new business open and operating by first o f September. He estimated that it may even be done before then. The store will carry normal mini mart items with some food service. The gas station will be full service, pumping both diesel and gas, and will also have the card lock available for after hours fueling. The hours of the store and gas station will be from 6a.m. to 10p.m., Mills said. The new mini mart will also house the Lexington post office, which is currently located in Del's Market in Lexington.
