Lindsey Waterland Lindsey Waterland is this year's recipient of the corporation award. She is the daughter of Karla Waterland, Heppner, and the late George Waterland. She plans to attend Eastern Oregon State College, majoring in Brent Gunderson nursing. Her scholarship is from Brent Gunderson, the son of the interest of the investment of David and Tricia Gunderson, Kinzua Corporation of Seattle, Heppner, was selected to play in which was a 10,000 gift. The bride-elect graduated from lone High School in 1994 and at tended Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton. Tenneson is the son of Roy and Sandy Hawkins of The Dalles, and Jerry Tenneson of Bonneville. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1992 and currently works at NW Aluminum in Goldendale. The couple plan a June 6 wedding at the NW Aluminum plant in The Dalles. St. Patrick's Senior Center _______ Bulletin Board_______ There were 73 people in attendance at the senior birthday dinner April 30, and nine meals were delivered to homes. Members of the First Christian Church served. Isabel Parry won the birthday gift of two complimentary tickets to the Friday breakfast at the senior center. The menu for dinner May 14 will be beef enchiladas, com, tossed salad, fruit and cookies. Members of the Christian Missionary Fellowship will serve. A center board meeting will be held at 1 p.m.. Blood pressures will be taken at 11 a.m. Breakfast will be held at the center Friday, May 9, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. This week's menu will be dry or hot cereal, fruit and biscuits and gravy with coffee, milk or juice. Suggested donation is $2 for those over 60. One table of pinochle was in play Friday afternoon. The carpet and upholstered furniture were shampooed Friday afternoon. Debby Peck's presentation at the center Saturday was cancelled because of illness. Six people watched the movie "Larger than Life" Sunday evening. Two new tenants have moved in to St. Patrick's Senior Center apartments, Mrs. Straley on the third floor, and Lester Corwin in the first floor apartment. We welcome both of them and hope their stay is long and pleasant. The senior bus will take seniors on a tour of the county on Saturday. May 24, departing Heppner at 10 a.m. Those planning to attend should bring a lunch. A sign up sheet is in the Senior Center office or call 676-9030. Other dates to remember are as follows: Tues. & Thurs., 10 a.m., exercise; Wed., 11 blood pressure clinic; 12 noon, senior dinner; Friday, 2 p.m., cards; Sunday, 7 p.m., movie.
