Heppner loses a heartbreaker
HHS Baseball
By Lonnie Rill
Heppner lost a heartbreaker
against
Weston
McEwen
Tigerscots in Athena, Tuesday
night, April 22.
Heppner came out in the first
inning hitting the ball well, but
the Tigerscots caught up with
back-to-back homeruns. At the
end of the first inning the score
was 3-1 in favor of the
Tigerscots. Starting pitcher Eric
Schonbachler was replaced by
reliever Josh Coiner for Heppner,
in the first inning.
A few
defensive errors on Heppners
part kept them out of the game.
The Tigerscots kept hitting the
ball, and Heppner stranded
runners on base almost every
inning.
In the sixth inning Heppner
switched pitchers again, putting
Tim Dickenson on the mound
replacing Coiner. Iim did not
give up any runs to Weston
McEwen in the bottom of the
sixth inning. The only Heppner
hit in the top of the seventh
inning was by right fielder,
Lonnie Rill. Cody Bellamy,
pinch running for Rill, was
thrown out, stealing a base for
the first out. Dylan Pettyjohn
struck out to give Weston
McEwen two outs.
Shane
Matheny was thrown out on a
ground ball to third base to end
the game.
Heppner plays Stanfield, April
26, in Heppner.
