Grains Commission plans meeting The Oregon Grains Commis sion (OGC) will hold a regular commission meeting Friday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. at the Oregon Wheat Commission conference room, 1200 N.W. Births Andrew Carman Timpy, Jr.- a son Andrew Carman was born to Geneva and Andrew Timpy of Irrigon on October 19, 19% at Good Shepherd Com munity Hospital in Hermiston. The baby weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. Isabel Orozco-a daughter Isabel was born to Rosa and Juan Orozco of Irrigon on Oc tober 24, 19% at Good Shep herd Community Hospital in Hermiston. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. Lisa M arie Stan ger-a daughter Lisa Marie was bom to Toni and C hristop her Stanger of Irrigon on October 27, 1996 at Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Her miston. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. M addie Ryan Lindsay-a daughter Maddie Ryan was bom to Melissa and Todd Lind say of Heppner on October 28, 1996 at Good Shepherd Com munity Hospital in Hermiston. The baby weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. Jasmine Puerta Calvillo-a daughter Jasmine Puerta was born to Isabel and Daniel Puer ta Ramirez of Boardman on O ctober 7, 1996 at Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston. The baby weigh ed 7 lbs. 2 oz. Locals get jail tim e Leon and Jean Ball were honored by friends and rela tives at a 50th wedding an niversary party at Beecher's Restaurant in lone recently. Leon Ball and Jean Biddle were married on Nov. 11,1946, in Pendleton. Both were bom in Heppner to pioneer parents. Leon was raised and attended school in the lone area. Jean was raised and attended school in Heppner. During World War II, Leon served in the U .S. Navy in the Pacific. On his return from the war, he worked for Heppner Lumber Company and remain ed at that mill for 42 years. Jean worked at Central Market, Kroll's Department Store and Gardner's Men's Wear. The Balls have three sons, Jay, Gary and Randy. Jay and wife, Vicki, live in Pendleton, where Jay is district lineman supervisor for Umatilla Electric. Gary and his wife, Donna, live in Heppner. He is employed at Kinzua Resources and is the saw mill supervisor. Randy also lives in Heppner and is em ployed at Kinzua Resources. The Balls have one step-grand daughter and one step-great- grandson. Leon retired in December 1988 from Kinzua Resources Corp. Jean retired in December 1993. Leon is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Odd Fellows Singspiration set in lone, Nov. 10 Singspiration will be held at lone United Church of Christ on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. This is a time when people from all local churches have a chance to ''raise a joyful noise to the Lord'' together. In addi tion to singing favorite and new hymns, instrumental and vocal specials are encouraged. lone UCC's Deaconesses will host a pie and coffee fellowship time after the Singspiration. Everyone is invited to attend. Jean and Leon Ball Lodge. Jean is a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Hermiston and belongs to the Rhea Creek Social Club. They enjoy traveling, the out doors, crafts, wood working, being with family, and golf. Both are members of the Willow Creek Country Club. Willow Lanes bowling alley raised over $200 by apprehending locals and collecting bail. The money will be used for a air filtration system to be installed at the bowling alley. Arts & Crafts to open fair annex The Morrow County Creative Arts and Crafts Club will have the fair annex open Thursday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m .-4 p.m. for artists who want to get together to paint. The club will also gather for lunch the same day, at 1 p.m. in the Yaw's coffee room.
