Fillies earn second in league
Howard set up the powerful
front row and helped Mindy
Binchus, Lexi Matteson and
Annie Hisler earn kills.
The Fillies steadily put points
on the scoreboard and lead 8-
4, when the Huskies jumped
up and bit them, stuffing a
Filly serve. At that point a
Husky server went behind the
service line and scored points
5 through 15.
Sherman
County won the first game. 15-
8 .
Game Two the Fillies racked
up a 7-1 lead with kills coming
from Traci Dickenson, Lexi
Matteson, Stormy Howard,
Lori Moeller and Annie Hisler,

Mindy Binchus. Then the
Huskies took control of the
game and scored points two
through nine. The fired-up
Huskies never looked back
and won the second game 15-
11 .
Awards were presented upon
completion o f all the matches.

Although the Heppner Fillies
suffered a
letdown
on
Saturday, Oct. 26, they had a
season to look back on with
pride. The Fillies put out
tremendous effort throughout
the season to earn second
place with a 10-2 league
record going into the district
playoffs.
Heppner faced a determined
Sherman County Husky team
in the first match o f the "loser
out”
district
playoffs.
Unfortunately, the Fillies were
the first team to be eliminated
as the Huskies went on to w in
both of their matches and earn
a berth at the
regional
playoffs.
In Game One the Fillies
looked a little skittish but soon
settled in to their game plan
against the much taller
Huskies.
The fans were
treated to several long rallies
and heads up saves. Stormy
"These girls have nothing to
be ashamed of,” said Coach
Terri Gentry.
“Although
today's
outcome
was
disappointing, I am so proud
of this team. They played their
hearts out all season and did a
tremendous job.”
