SIX- Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, September 25, 1996 St. Patrick's Senior Center Bulletin Board Eighty-nine people attended the senior dinner Sept. 18, and four meals were home delivered. Members of the Seventh-day Adventist and Nazarene churches served. Bill Cox won the meal ticket. Corol Mitchell met with members of the Nutrition Site Committee (NSC) to go over the October menus. The menu for Oct. 2 will be pork roast (from meat donated by Kinzua), peas and carrots, mashed potaotes with gravy, rolls, applesauce and cookies. Members of the Baptist Church will serve. Kinzua personnel will be invited to dinner. The NSC meeting will be postponed until Wedneday, Oct. 9, as the chairperson and vice chairperson will be out of town. The garden club was busy Thursday and Friday getting the dining room ready for the flower show. They transformed it in to a veritable floral paradise, which was open to the public Satur day and Sunday, Sept. 21-22. Friday morning, Corol Mitchell met with the menu commit tee members and planned the menus for November and December. The Health Fair Committee also met to make preliminary plans for the Health Fair to be held Thursday, Oct. 10. Flu shots will be given by the Health Dept, nurse at that time. There will be other health care booths, healthy snacks, and a soup and roll lunch. Friday afteryoon, one table of cards was in play. Eight ladies were present for the movie, "Nickie's W edding," Sunday evening. The volunteer group folded Extension Service newsletters Fri day and Saturday morning. There is still room on the bus to Hardman, Saturday, Sept. 28. Those wishing to go to the oyster feed may sign up at the Senior Center office. There will be a Housing Authority meeting on Monday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. The Heppner Garden Club will meet Monday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. Other dates to remember: Tuesday and Thursday exercise, 10 a.m.; Wednesday blood pressures taken, 11 a.m., senior meal, noon; Friday cards, 2 p.m.; Sunday movie, 7 p.m. Historical Society has annual meeting By D e lp h a J o n e s The annual meeting of the Morrow County Historical Society will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Lexington Grange Hall. The day will start at 1 p.m. with a potluck dinner, with turkey, m ashed potatoes, dressing and gravy. Visitors are asked to bring salads and desserts. The business meeting and program will follow the dinner. After the regular business meeting, John Evans, author and retired teacher at Eastern Oregon State College, will talk to the group concerning genea logy. Door prizes and special music will be included. The Morrow County Chron icles for this year will be on sale as well as state and local mem berships. The purpose of the Historical Society is to preserve the history of Morrow County and the State of Oregon. Election of directors will be held and a report on the trip to Isaquah last spring given.
