He attended col lege in Hawaii and Spokane, e'- WA, from 1981-82. He played X in master classes given by David Feingold, Ian Mitchell S' and Sharon Isbin. In 1982 he left college to sup p >- port his family through a non music career, but couldn't com pletely put away his love of music or his instrument. In 1995 he returned to college to complete his music perfor mance degree at La Grande. Oakes currently teaches various guitar styles at his The 19% 4-H Home Econo- mics/Expressive Arts Pre-Fair will be held Saturday, June 15, beginning with registration at 8:45 a.m. at the Morrow Coun ty Fairgrounds in Heppner. Pre-Fair will end at noon. All area 4-H members are welcome to attend the event. Pre-regis tration is not required. Home Economics Pre-Fair is a free, non-competitive event where all ages can learn to understand the fair premium book and fair registration forms; learn how to be comfor table during interview judging; practice moving confidently across the stage during model ing contests and more, said Carol Michael, Youth and Family Extension agent. "Usually we feel pre-fair is most helpful to newer mem bers, says Michael. "But this year, there have been a number \ \~ tension agent. At the training, youth can learn what is expect ed while baby-sitting; how to conduct a business; how to handle emergencies; how to stay in control in a variety of situations; the needs of child ren at different age levels; sim ple meals and snacks, and much more.
