The St. Patrick’s leprechaun (alias auction chair Doris Brosnan) shows off some of the items to
be auctioned. Goodies include a clawfoot tub, a bread machine, a dome tent, food dehydrator,
a Dirt Devil vacuum and a Pendleton woolen blanket.
The St. Patrick's celebration
auction committee is still accep
ting donations for its annual
auction, set for Sunday, March
17, at 1 p.m. at the Morrow
County fair pavilion. Viewing
will begin that day at 11 a.m.
Items donated so far range
from new merchandise from
private citizens and Oregon
businesses to used and collec
tible items. Many Hermiston
and Pendleton businesses are
joining the Heppner merchants
in support of the auction, said
auction chair Doris Brosnan.
Donations have also been
received from Salem, Portland
and Newport.
Committee members can
vassed much of Heppner last
week. This Tuesday, March 5,
they and their leprechaun were
in Pendleton, and on Wednes
day they visited Hermiston to
solicit support.
Donations will be accepted
through Friday, March 15.
However, the committee em
phasizes that the program of
auction items must be printed
on Saturday, so their efforts
would run smoother if dona
tions came in no later than
W ednesday or Thursday,
March 13-14.
Triad Auctioneers of Arling
ton will again handle the auc
tioning of items, with many
Heppner volunteers, including
the Heppner chief of police,
assisting them.
To make donations, call
676-5382 or send to: Rt. 2, Box
2397, Heppner.
Auction proceeds will help
fund community needs, said
Brosnan. In previous years, the
auction has helped fund the
South Morrow County Scholar
ship and playground equip
ment at the city.
Preceding the start of the auc
tion, the South Morrow Coun
ty Scholarship committee
begins a lamb barbecue in the
annex of the fair pavilion which
continues to 3 p.m. The St.
Paddy's team roping takes
place in the rodeo arena, star
