speaker at the Rural Futures

needs to do just that as we give

and prepare for the holiday
season.
Heppner Chamber invites
one and all to participate in the
creation of the Hometown
Holiday Tree between the Shoe
Box and post office. Adults,
students, organizations, chur
ches, classes-everyone is en
couraged to create a durable,
weatherproof, four to six inch
ornament with hanger attached
to hang on the downtown tree
this year. Identification may be
included on the decoration, i.e.
"class of '62, name, greeting".
Ornaments may be snowmen,
photos, wooden, tin, stars,
snowflakes, etc., as long as
they depict goodwill.
It is hoped these can be used
every year for many years to
come and the event will be
come an annual community
happening. Musicians are in
vited to participate.
The community event will
take place on Friday, Dec. 1,
between 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the
tree, or ornaments may be left
at the Chamber office by Thurs
day, Nov. 30. Visit Heppner
businesses on Saturday, Nov.
18, during the season opening
to get in the ornament spirit.
Next week at Chamber,
citizens from Pilot Rock involv

program will be present to
answer questions and discuss
its success. All interested per
sons are welcome to attend at

Stephanie Haguewood, four
for eight; Melissa McElligott,
four for nine, and Kara Miller
