Scott rolled up 241 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in the lopsided Homecoming courts honored meeting slated O ct. 16 abs victory for the birds. Quarterback Luke Swanson also had a good game passing for 107 yards, including a 27-yard toss to Joe Bacon for a TD. The Cards had good blocking from their line, helping Scott to pile up the yardage. lone JV's lose to Sherman Elaine Nelson of Big Bear Ci ty, California, American Bible Society (ABS) regional staff p erson and Pat K reitler, Oregon state coordinator for ABS will be in Heppner, Mon day, Oct. 16. A noon luncheon meeting at Kate's Pizza is planned for all area pastors and members erf their congregations interested in the ministry of the ABS. ' 'This will be a golden oppor tunity to learn about the various Bible translations, booklets, pamplets, videos and various o th e r scrip tu ral resources that are available th ro u g h ABS,” said the Reverend Stan Hoobing, area coordinator for south Morrow, Wheeler and Gilliam counties. The mission statement of the ABS, a non-denominational organization, is to provide the Holy Scriptures to every man, woman and child in a language and form each can readily understand and at a price each can easily afford. This purpose undertaken without doctrinal note or comment and without profit, is a cause which all Christians and all churches are urged to support, said Rever end Hoobing. Residents' family members and the general public are invited to come and learn about special nursing home programs. The meeting will provide in form ation on resto rativ e therapy, social services and ac tivities departm ents. These i departments are crucial in help ing residents achieve their :: hightest level of functioning capability and are essential components in any quality nur sing home environment, said a PMHNH spokesperson. The meeting will provide an oppor tunity for attendees to talk with staff members and ask ques tions. Sheridan Tamasky, PMHNH director of nursing, said the meeting can also furnish the opportunity for development of a family mem ber support system. For those who do not p re sen tly have a family member in the nursing home, Tamasky said many will even tually face this situation. "This is a chance for them to know what is available and to be bet ter prepared should they need to make a placement in the future," she said.
