SIX- Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, July 19, 1995 Wright family reunion draws over 125 Albert Wright family 1880 l-r: back-Silas, George, Anson; front-Julia Wright Bisbee, Albert, Julia Ann Barry Wright, Effie Wright Gilliam. Over 125 descendants of Jep- tha Wright gathered at the Hardman Community Hall on July 2, for a family reunion hosted by Orian Albert and Beverly Wright and immediate family. Albert Wright was a son of Jeptha Wright who took the Oregon Trail in 1852, arriving in Oregon City in 1853. Albert and family then moved to Mor row County on Rhea Creek in 1872. While the Albert Wright family has held reunions in the past, this one was different. A book published in 1994 iden tified over 3,000 descendants of Jeptha Wright. All the living cousins were invited. People came from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho and Texas. The reunion started at Anson Wright Memorial Park but rain forced a move to Hardman. The oldest cousin attending was Mildred Farrens Wright of Heppner and the youngest was Katelyn Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Wright of Abilene, Texas. Jackson Gilliam of Ocean View, Hawaii, travel ed the farthest. Also in atten dance was Jeff Rehm of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who wrote Pomona Grange to hold memorial By Delpha Jones Wheatland Pomona Grange will meet at Anson Wright Park on Sunday, July 30 for a potluck dinner and the annual memorial grange beginning at 11:30 a.m. Dinner will be at 1 p.m. The Spray Junior Grange #340 will put on a small pro gram also. Losses such as these encompass everyone in a com munity in some way or another. It seems like an ap propriate time to read "Chicken Soup for the Soul", a collection of short feel-good happenings to keep us all on track. The summer is flying by for everyone, including Chamber members. Visitors pass by more frequently and often leave with a Heppner lapel pin; Main Street businesses are at tending a seminar in prepara tion for the 1997 renovation project; employees will be at tending a customer relations workshop July 31; committees are preparing for the Oregon State Fair booth depicting Mor row County and reminders are beginning to appear indicating our fair is near. Put on your thinking caps now to become an active part of fair week by entering the parade, signing up for a booth, volunteering to help in some way, or purchasing tickets to the Pro or Morrow County Rodeo. "L o o k What Kids Can Do” ...that means you. Some times it's healthy to act like a kid again...laugh a little, play a little, learn to compromise, work together. The communi ty booths have returned to our fair; let's fill them and see what big kids can do. On Tuesday, July 25, the results of the GAP study will be presented during the Chamber luncheon. Retailers are invited to attend to learn about the survey results. The Chamber board of direc tors meets Wednesday, July 26, at 11:30 a.m. at the GEODC/ Chamber office.
