Tim Sumner, Lexington, was picked for the 14-15 year old National Team. The tournament begins in Hood River Thursday, July 13. Oregon Wheat Commission sets conference call The Oregon Wheat Commis sion will hold its next regular meeting on Friday, July 21, via conference call, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Oregon Wheat Commis sion com piles with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities. Men's Championship Greg Grant shot a one over par 91 to capture the annual Willow Creek Country Club Men's Championship. Tom Bedortha was low net of the field with a net score of 78. The tournament was played at 27 holes with 38 golfers par ticipating. Playing conditions were ideal, although a strong wind blew during the last two or three holes. People for the Pool served sandwiches for the players. Honorary chairman for the tournam ent was the late George Waterland. The event was headed by John Edmund- son with "excellent support" provided by the tournament committee which included Jim Wishart, Ralph Walker, Earl Fishbum, Earl Norris and Ron Bowman. Least putts: Edmundson, Bedortha and Bryant. 676-9200 lone reading program underway The lone Summer Youth Reading Program begins this week at the lone Library. All ages are welcome to participate. The library is open Monday and Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. C Patrick’s Senior Center Bulletin Board There were 79 people present for the senior meal July 5 and eight meals were home delivered. Members of the Methodist Church served. Julia Hill won the meal ticket. The menu for Wednesday, July 19 will be baked chicken, com, hash browns, rolls and fruit. Members of the Lutheran Church will serve. The bus, driven by Ed Baker, took seniors to the Monument reunion July 2 and to lone for the parade and again to the fireworks July 4. There was one table of cards in play Friday afternoon July 7. Nine seniors watched the movie "Sherlock Undercover Dog" Sunday evening July 9. The bus schedule for the rest of July is as follows: Friday, July 14, Milton-Freewater senior meal site at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 23, Gonty's cabin at 1:30 p.m. for a potluck picnic. Those attending should bring a lawn chair. Friday, July 28, Tri-Cities Village at Canyon Lake at 8:30 a.m. for a free lunch and tour of the retire ment complex. Other dates to remember: Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. ex ercise; Wednesday 11 a.m. blood pressures taken, noon senior meal; Friday 2 p.m. cards; Sunday movie 7 p.m. Quilting will resume after the fair. Guest priest at All Saints July 16 All Saints' Episcopal Church in Heppner, will have a guest celebrant and preacher on Sun- day, July 16. The Reverend I. Dean Addington will celebrate Holy Communion and preach a sermon at the 10:30 a.m. church service. Father Addington, a retired episcopal priest, served chur ches in Wyoming, Texas and New Mexico, and was involv ed in several preaching mis sions during his career. He cur rently resides in Hermiston. A time of fellowship will follow church on Sunday, Nursery care is provided dur- ing the worship. There will be no adult study or Sunday School until September.
