“ What is the very first thing
to do when I take my exhibit to
the fairgrounds?" “ What is the
difference between 4-H exhibits
and 4-H contests?" “ Where
can I learn to move across the
stage so I won't be scared dur
ing “ My Favorite Outfit" con

questions and many more will
be explained on Saturday, June

Expressive Arts Pre-Fair at the
Morrow County Fairgrounds.
Registration begins at 8:30
a.m., with classes schduled
from 9 a.m. to noon.
This free, non-competitive
event is the place to learn how
to understand the fair premium
book, fair registration forms,
how to be comfortable during
interview judging, practice for
fair contests and more. All 4-H
members are welcome to at
tend this event. It is most
helpful to newer members, said
Carol Michael-Bennett, Mor
row County Extension agent.
Parents, relatives and leaders
are encouraged to attend with
members. Adults will tour fair
facilities and have a chance to
learn tips from county fair
“ veterans". A morning spent

have enormous pay-off for
youth participating in contests
and
exhibits,
said
Michael-Bennett.
Parents are responsible for
helping children register for ex
hibits and contests, as well as
getting members and materials
to the right activity at the pro
per time. Leaders are willing to
help, but parental involvement
and support is vital to the
youth's self-confidence and en
joyment of fair activities,
Michael-Bennett said. A goal
for the 1995 pre-fair is to in
crease awareness of the con
tests available to all 4-H
members regardless of project
area.
Presentations, Scrapbook,
My Favorite Outfit, Educational
Displays, Beef Ambassador,
and Wheat and You are con
tests that any Morrow County
4-H member can enter.
Many of the activities will be
lead by junior and teen leaders.
This is the place to get answers
to questions about 4-H fair ac
tivities. Pre-registration is not
necessary but participants need
to bring a snack for the break.
