She also finished fourth in the 100m in 13.27, and sixth in the 200m in 28.05. Stephanie Haguewood set a new school record in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 51.09 to finish second in that event. This broke her own record of 52.65. She also had a personal best of 29'6V«'' to finish sixth in the triple jump. Anne Dombrowski finished third in the 400m in 65.99. LaRee Anderson was fifth in the pole vault at 6', and sixth in the 400m with 67.45. Kara Miller was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 90'6", seventh in the high hurdles, and eighth in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Becky Wagenblast was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 4'6''. The 1600 meter relay team consisting of Dombrowski, Anderson, Wagenblast, and Haguewood set a new school record of 4:26.79, breaking the old record of 4:30.9. In the boys' competition, Jerad Ashbeck was second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.18. He was followed by teammate Rodney Ehrmantraut, who finished third in the pole vault, also at 1 0 '4 " . Nathan Heideman saved his best iump of the season in the triple, amp for his last and jumped 38'6V4" for sixth place. He also had a personal best, 18.9 in the high hurdles for seventh place. Rob Crum finished seventh in the 1500m with 4:39.0. The 1600 meter relay team of Joe Bacon, John Doherty, Will Parm and Jacob Taylor finished fifth with the time of 3:46.9. The lone boys and girls finished a successful track season by bringing home trophies from the state track meet at Western Oregon Col lege in Monmouth last Satur day, May 20. The girls' team finished second with 69 points and the boys' team finished fourth with 41 points. Pastor Hoobing, Carol and Rachel Hoobing, and Paul and Rikka Tews will be represen ting the Hope-Valby-Condon Lutheran Parish at the annual Oregon Synod Assembly held May 26-28, at the Red Lion Inn, near Lloyd Center in Portland. Over 110 congregations and their representatives and guests will be at this assembly as delegates will elect a new synodical bishop and act on other church issues. G irls basketball clin ic slated A basketball clinic for girls in grades five through 12 will be held June 26-28 at the Heppner High School gym. The clinic will emphasize in dividual skills, defense and of fense, team defense, position break-down, contests and team play. The clinic will be conducted by coach Carla "C .T ." Taylor. Cost for the clinic is $66. To enroll, an application must be filled out and returned with a $20 deposit by June 15. Too many errors hurt Mustangs Too many errors hurt the Mustangs at the District playoffs Saturday, May 20 in Pendleton as they lost to the Wahtonka Eagles 10-3. Chris Dickenson was on the mound for Heppner as the Eagles got three hits in the first inning, earning two runs. Eric Schonbachler and Rod Zum- walt both got hits for Heppner and Chris Dickenson walked on base but the Mustangs couldn't make anything hap pen. Designated hitter Tim Sumner singled and Schon bachler doubled in the second inning but Sumner was the on ly one to score. Heppner held the Eagles un til the sixth inning when Wahtonka had four unearned runs and Heppner had four er rors. The Eagles again had three unearned runs in the seventh while Heppner had two more errors. Heppner's only other run came in tne sixth when pinch runner Gregg Holtz scored off a Brian Koffler single RBI. The Mustangs are coached by Rick Johnston and Robin Graff. Mustangs beat Stanfield to advance to district Skroch hits grand slam for win It took two games against Stanfield Tuesday, May 17, for the Heppner Mustangs to ad vance to District playoffs last Saturday in Pendleton. Too many Mustang errors let the Tigers advance once they got on base and Stanfield took the first game 6-3. Trent Hughes hit a double for the Mustangs in the second in ning with Josh Coiner answer ing with a single. Hughes scored on an error and Coiner scored on his own to give the Mustangs the advantage at the end of two, 2-1. Stanfield came back in the third and fourth with a run in each inning while the Mustangs couldn't convert on any hits. Heppner's last run came in the fifth when Chad Skroch singled to score Rod Zumwalt, tying the score 3-3. The Tigers came out in the last inning with three more runs while Heppner committed three errors in the inning. Josh Coiner was 2-3 at the plate while Hughes went 2-4. Dan Burnside had a sacrifice in * the second and Chad Skroch > and Gregg Holtz had a hit each. Heppner didn't look much better in the nightcap until the last inning when Chad Skroch hit a four RBI grandslam homerun to take the win. The Tigers were hitting off Chad Skroch getting four runs in as many innings. Heppner was held to just two. Eric Schonbachler score in the first inning off errors and Trent Hughes singled and scored off stolen bases in the fourth inn ing. Heppner held Stanfield the last three innings with good defensive play. Stanfield walked Brian Kof fler and Schonbachler while Rod Zumwalt made it to first on a fielder's choice. An inten tional walk sent Chris Dicken son to the base with two outs, bringing Chad Skroch to the plate. Skroch hit the first pitch high over right field for the grandslam and the win. Pastor Eggen once served Trini ty Lutheran church in Her miston for a number of years and later served as the mission developer for the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Boardman. He is now a resi dent of Kennewick, WA and is awaiting a call to serve a con gregation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Reverend Eggen will preach at the 9 a.m. worship service at the Valby Lutheran Church, located on the lone-Gooseberry road. There will be an educa tional period for the children during the worship hour.
