H am s Lady Cards tie up Echo player By Tonya Heideman The lady Cardinals downed the Echo Cougars 55-47 on Fri day, February 10 to secure a first place entrance at the 1A District Tournament on Friday, February 17. The Cougars fought hard to stay with the Cardinals in the first half, trailing by just three points. Half time score was 24-21. The second half brought con tinued pressure from the Car dinal starting five as they con tinued to wear the Cougars down. The Cards lead by as much as 15 points in the fourth quarter and held on, posting a 55-47 victory. The Cardinals were lead by Suzy Heideman with 19 points and eight rebounds. The Cardinals starting five seemed to struggle for every point scored and were behind going into the fourth quarter. The Cardinal bench was hot and contributed greatly 1n the last quarter to grab the first place seating in the Big Sky Tournament. lone outscored Echo, 25-10, in the last quarter, with a final score of lone 68, Echo 65. Thierry Delbart scored 18 points, Jerad Ashbeck had 12 points and sophomore Luke Swanson, had 11 for the Cards. Eleven Cardinals played and everyone scored. The district tournament will be played on February 17 and 18 at the new Hermiston high school gym. Cards ease past Falcons By Tonya Heideman The Cards eased past the Falcons with an 89 to 57 victory on Saturday Feb. 11, to end their league 9-1. The Wheeler Falcons put up a struggle but were no match for the Car dinals who were still on a roll from the night before. Total teamwork and support for each other was evidenced by the crowd, as all 12 players contributed to the win. Technical fouls Delbart Lady Cards end season 30 consecutive wins By Tonya Heideman The Cardinals finished their league season play by landing their 30th consecutive Big Sky victory over the last three seasons downing the Wheeler Falcons, 56-38, Saturday, Feb. 11 . The Cardinals took control early and continued to build on their lead throughout the game. The Cardinals had three players in a double figures with Melissa McElligott putting in 14, Anne Dombrowski, 12 and Mary Jane McCarty, 11 points and six assists. Suzv Heideman lead on the boards with seven. For the third consecutive year, the lady Cardinals will face the Wasco Co. Technical fouls none. St. Patrick's Parish to present dramas Two dram as will be presented in St. Patrick's Parish Hall on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. "Searching” is a one-act play written by O.B. Rozell. The story is about a 16 year old adopted girl who was brought up in a home filled with love and understanding. A crisis in the family now makes it im perative that she find her natural parents. The play is p resen ted by special a r rangements with I.E. Clark, publisher, Schulenburg, Tx. "Lady On The Rocks" deals with the subject of alcoholism. It evokes aw areness that alcoholism is a disease, and creates understanding for the victims and their families. It was written by Elizabeth Blake, and was commissioned by the National Council on Alcohol- ism. It is presented by ar rangements with Plays for Living. Coffee, punch, pie and cookies will be served during intermission. Admission is free and every one is welcome to attend.
