The pumpkins were from Ron Palmateer’s pumpkin patch at lone. Each year Palmateer treats the primary children to pumpkins at Halloween. First Christian church plans annual School carnival Harvest Festival dinner Oct. 30 The First Christian Church Pass, TX, Puerto Rico, and the this Thursday will hold its annual fund raiser, the Harvest Festival, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the church. All members and -friends are invited to attend. Special guest speaker this year will be Gordon Thomp s o n , m issionary to the Dominican Republic. Thom pson, who is now residing in the Eugene, area, has been a missionary since 1948 and has served in such fields as Colegio Biblico in Eagle Dominican Republic. He and his wife, Vivian, were married in 1948 and have two grown daughters. He continues to translate materials into Spanish for use in the Dominican Republic and oth er Latin American countries. Thompson will also bring the Sunday morning message on Oct. 30. Everyone is invited to fellowship at the church at that tim e. The church m eets regularly at 11 a.m. at 293 N. Gale. Dramatic monologue to be presented "C a tc h the Vision of F reed o m " is a dram atic monologue to be given this Sunday at the Hope-Valby L u th eran P arish. The monologue is about the life and ministry of Martin Luther, the German reformer of the 16th centuryChristain church. Oct. 30 is also Reformation Sunday. Worship service at Valby Lutheran church is at 9 a.m. At 8:15 a.m. the Adult Bible Class will finish their study of the Book of Hebrews. Next week they begin a study of the Gospel of St. Luke. Sarah Carlson will accompany the congregation on the piano for the singing of the liturgy and the hymns. Hope Lutheran church will celebrate worship service at 11 a.m. Dr. Jeanne Beretta will ac company the congregation on the piano for the singing of the hymns and liturgy. During the singing of the second hymn, children four years old through second grade will have junior church in the fellowship area. On Friday, Adventures in Faith, a religious program for kindergarteners through sixth grade, will meet at Hope Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to study the meaning of Luke 12:48a. "From everyone who has been given m uch, m uch will be d em anded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." They will also learn how it relates to their daily life. Adventurers are en couraged to bring a can of food to the Friday gathering. Donald J. PUBLIC NOTICE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Unallocated CHILD CARE DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT The Morrow County Com m ission on C hildren and Families is announcing RE QUEST FOR PROPOSALS to apply for funding under Child Care Development Block Grant for the provision of services to children residing in Morrow County. This REQUEST is be ing issued for $2,000 u n allocated fu n d s from the CCDBG. Services include: Ages 0-13 years except special needs children. Service area: child care for low income and working parents and student parents. The Morrow County Com m ission on C hildren and Families manages funds that come to the county through the administrative office of the State Commission. Any in terested individual, agency, association, etc., which pro poses to provide services to Morrow County children and their families may apply. The proposed program must be consistent with the goals of the Commission and submitted on the Commission application. Applications must be received by 5:00 P.M., Nov. 3, 1994.
