Distribution David and April Hilton-Sykes, Publisher Letter to the Editor Hats off for job well done To Heppner Rodeo and Fair Boards: Our hats off to you all. It was the best 'Fair and Rodeo' yet, fast paced, clean, something for everyone. To all of you that put in so many long hours, and will never receive a cent for it and all the committees and policy makers, you did a great job! (s) Steve and Linda Yaw 2 percent equal tax could be only state tax To the Editor: How would you like to live in a state where there are: no property taxes; no state taxes; no 24 cent per gallon gasoline tax; no co rp o rate taxes, unemployment taxes, timber severance taxes, replacement tire taxes, cigarette, beer or wine taxes; no car, boat, RV or any other vehicle license fees; where schools have the money they need to give our children a good education; where there is no college or secondary school tuition (or as near none as is possible-projected for 1996); where the only state tax is the 2 percent Equal tax and you "pay as you go" according to what you spend. Spend $40,000 in one year, pay $800. Spend $20,000 pay $400. Spend $12,000, pay $240. Where you have fair tax that works because everyone pays a little, but no one is over burdened. A tax that puts you in control of your- money and not the state and to u rists, d ru g d ealers, foreigners and tax cheats will help with the paying. You will, if enough people vote yes on the 2 percent Equal Tax initiative (no. 20) that will be on the ballot this November 1994. This may be our last chance for a long time to put this bold new plan into effect. Let's do it. Sincerely, (s) Janette Kirkland 544 Fir Point Lane Glendale, 97442 PUBLIC NOTICE EXCESS SINGER SEW ING MACHINES AN D SERGERS The V.B.R.
