Harry Orn to speak at Christian church Harry K. Orn, director of the Oregon Christian Evangelistic Fellowship, will be the guest speaker at the First Christian Church in Heppner on Sunday February 6. His sermon will be entitled "Don't Quit” taken from the scripture of 1 Cor. 9: 24-27. Orn. who has an office in Clackamas, has been in the Chris tian ministry for the past 40 years, both as a minister and evangelist. Before becoming the director of Evangelism for the Oregon Christian Evangelistic Fellowship, he served as senior minister of the Central Christian Church in Portland for six years. He has held minsitries in Illinois, Pennsylvania. California, Nevada and Arizona. Most of these ministries were planting new churche’s and reviving dying churches. For several years Orn served as the west coast director of Revival Fires TV m inistry, with evangelist Cecil Todd of Joplin, Missouri. He also has served on the board of directors for may para-church organizations such as the North American Christian Convention, the Christian Church Pension Insurance Foundation, the Arizona Evangelistic Associa tion, Double Vision USA, Na tional Church Growth Commit tee. Northwest Promoter for Lin coln Christian College. He has been a member of the board of directors o f the Alexander Scholarship Foundation of Oregon, Sunnyside Kiwanis. Portland, and OLE (Oregon Latin Evangelism). He has served as director for the Oregon Christian Evangelistic Fellowship since August 1985, traveling across Oregon and speaking at rallies, retreats, camps and leadership seminars. He has conducted “ Lift up Christ” evangelistic crusades (revivals) and helped in the establishment of several new churches and reviving of existing church in Oregon. He is also the editor o f the organization’s publication “ The Fellowship Tidings” . Wheat commission meeting set The next regular meeting of the Oregon Wheat Commission will be held Thursday, Feb. 10 begin ning at 8 a.m. in the Chinook Room of the Shilo Inn, The Dalles. The Shilo Inn is located at 3223 Frontage Road. The Oregon Wheat Commis sion complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). OTPR to hold Bullbusting event during St. Paddy’s weekend The first annual St. Paddy’s Bullbusting Calcutta and Stick Horse Derby is coming to Hepp ner the weekend of March 18 and 19. Forty of the top bull riders in the country will compete for a purse of $9,000. World famous announcer Bob Tallntan of Baker will be the announcer. Wild Rose productions o f La Center, WA. will be in charge of the sound and special music effects. The na tionally known Beard Rodeo Company will be the stock con tractor. They are known for some of the toughest rankest bulls in rodeo today, said Mary Ann Munkers, Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo committee member. The Calcutta auction will take place at the Heppner Elks Lodge starting at 7 p.m. March 18 when bullriders will be auctioned. This will give the crowd the opportuni ty to get more involved in the bullbusting, said Munkers. If the rider makes money, then the per son who bought the rider will also make money. “ This should make things very exciting,” said Munkers. The Stick Horse Derby, open to children six and under, will be a major horse race for the younger generation. There will be two races, one for three years and under and another for ages four through six. Children should bring their stick horse with them. The derby and admission to the bullbusting is free for these young jockeys. First place finishers will receive a trophy. For more information contact Munkers at 989-8488.
