They helped establish New Life Christian Church in 1987. The church is now self-governing with a Filipino pastor and a daughter church of its own. During their second term, the Strahms planted two churches in Alabang. Metro Manila. One of these churches, Alabang Bible Christian Fellowship, is compris ed of upper-class professionals who have been an influence in the government and business. The employees of these English- speaking Filipinos have been formed into a growing second church, which now has its own Filipino pastor. The Strahms look forward to returning to the Philippines in January 1994. OREGON 97839 P O B m 367 Raymond and Rosella Tholberg of Heppner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 23, 1993 with a party and dance at the Pilot Rock Community Center. The couple’s daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Owen Erickson of Pilot Rock served as hosts. The band included Gordon Tholberg, brother from Pendleton and Ralph Jacobson, a cousin from Spokane, WA. Many friends and relatives attended, including Mrs. Tholbergs three sisters from California. The Tholbergs were married Oct. 30. 1943, in Pendleton. They have lived in Heppner for 43 years. He worked as a lumber grader at Kinzua Mill and she has been a homemaker. They have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Nearly dffyouth and adults at tended the poise and grooming workshop “ Best Foot Forward” sponsored by the Morrow Coun ty 4-H leaders at Riverside High School. Topics and presenters at the November 6 event included: ‘ How to Make a Good Impres sion” by Shane Fritz, Ahna Lietke and Karrie Lloyd; “ Mak ing the Right Moves” by Layla Vaughn; “ Skin Care Basics” by Sandy Eggen, “ Hair Care Basics" by Brenda Dyer; “ Line and Proportion Workshop” by Carol Michael and Carley Drake; and “ Jewel Accessories” by Michael and Glaya Baker. Registration was managed by Rose Ann Daltoso and Ann Marie Files. Refreshments and snack break were organized by Barbara Wetherell and the “ Spoons and Spools” 4-H club. Participants included Abby Lietke. Nancy and Kimi Allen, Michelle Brandt and Jessica Ren- cken. all from Irrigon; Kevin Baker, Brandi Purcell, Jessie Bray, Shannon Wetherell, Jen nifer Harrell, Beth Skoubo, Jackie Harrell, Sheree Steiner, Lara Fritz, Sara Fritz, Jody McDaniel, Ashleigh Lloyd and Ashley Crowell, all from Board- man; Shelby, Jessica and Maureen Krebs, from Cecil; Katie Tworek, Nova Rietmann, Marie Tworek, all lone; Amy Drake, Heppner; Dawn and Deb- by Sheirhon, Lexington and Cyn- da Stevens and Angie Wanger, Hermiston. Participants at the workshop learned how following guidelines for good health and time manage ment can increase self confidence and poise.
