Amount of value was unknown at press time. 4-H News The Martingales By Molly Barrow, reporter Feb. 17 the Martingales club had a meeting at the Barrow’s house. Members discussed 4-H awards and talked about their community service project. Erin Crowell gave a demonstration on safety checking your saddle. Molly Barrow gave a presentation on the Lippizaner horse. Snacks were served. Lutherans to honor mothers The congregations of Hope and Valby Lutheran Churches will observe Mother’s day with a special treat for all mothers who attend worship. Valby Lutheran church will hold its adult Bible class at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday morning M ay 9 with a service of Holy Commu nion following at 9 a.m. Follow ing service there will be a coffee hour and opportunity for members and friends to visit. Valby church is located on the Ione-Gooseberry road. Hope Lutheran Church, located near the Willow Creek Dam in Heppner will celebrate service of Holy Communion at 11 a.m. The Sunday School class will also meet at 11 a.m. Pastor Stan Hoobing will be preaching to both congregations on the theme “ Let Not Your Hearts be Troubled” , based on scripture reading from the Gospel of John 14:1-12. Valby Saturday School will be held on May 8 from 10 a.m. un til noon. The theme is “ A Journey of Faith” . There will be opportunity for Bible study, sing ing and arts and crafts.
