Spring brings noxious weeds

problems and provides cost-share
assistance for “ A” List noxious
weeds.
While the district prefers to
work •with” the landowner on
specific weed problems, the
county ordinance allows the weed
district to impose fines of up to
$500 for noncompliance and
charge the cost of controlling
noxious weeds to the tax lot as a
first lien.
Anyone having questions about
noxious weeds can contact the
weed district at 676-5452.

yellow starth istle, poison
hemlock and everyone’s favorite,
diffuse knapweed, are popping up
all over. “ The time to take care
of these exotic weeds is now , if
the preferred method is spray
ing,” said the release. Young, ac
tively growing plants are easier
to control and require less her
bicide to achieve desired results.

to control noxious weeds by law
it is important to be able to
recognize seedlings and small in
