Shan nahan accumulated 162 points. Shannahan also captured first place in the pro-novice class with his dog. Flash at 143 xh points. Second place in the open class (four places) was Rob Lewis, Corvallis, with his dog. Peat, at 130 points. Third was Don Boyd, Selah, WA., with his dog, Nell at 122 points. Fourth was Karen Robinson, Scio with her dog. Bud. at 110 Vi points and fifth was Joe Roe, Twin Falls, Idaho, with his dog Rex, with 108 'A points. Second place in the pro-novice class (three places) was Bill Allison, Junction City, with his dog, Meg, with 130 Vi points. Third place went to Judy Norris, of Roy, Wa. with her dog Zip with 128 points. Fourth place was Alistair McLean Carlton, with his dog Gael with 123 points. Mary Hamilton, Hermiston and her dog Sue, were fifth place with 111 '/i points. In the novice-novice class (two places) George MacDonald, Lakebay, WA. finished first with his dog. Wolf, at 71 points. Ken Robinson, Scio, took second with his dog Freckles at 63 points. Dale Johnson was third with his dog, Molly at 48 points and Ruth Lake was fourth with her dog Jo- Jo, with 45 points. Judge was Frank Brunetto of Oregon City and course director was Stuart Milne, Banks. Com mittee members were Sue Evans, William and Sandy Rill, co- chairmen, and Brian Thompson. Skye Krebs supplied the sheep and Brian Thompson provided the trophy . Heppner High School seniors Scott Coe and Ryan Pence and lone High School Senior Deacon Heideman were chosen for the Shriners East-West all-star foot ball game. The game will be held in Baker City August 7. T.R. Riehl was selected as an alternate. Coe is a 5’11", 185 lb. runn ing back and was named to the state 2A all-star team on offense Ryan Pence Scott Coe and defense as a running back and linebacker. Pence is a 6' 210 lb. guard. He was named to the state 2A all-star team as an offensive guard and defensive lineman. Heideman is a 6’2” 210 lb. guard and Riehl is a 5’ 10” 176 lb. run ning back. Riehl was named first string state 2A all-star offense fullback. The team was selected by six Health fair planned for April A health fair, sponsored by the Senior Focus Group on Health will be held on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Senior Center. The theme is “ Staying Healthy” . Representation from community resources will be available to help make a positive contribution to healthy living. Groups are invited to participate in the fair with an exhibit, table, video or other means of informa tion about services offered. Main displays will be in the foyer and dining room with videos shown on the VCR in the front sitting room. The building will be open at 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 28 for those wishing to prepare their displays early and at 8 a.m. Thursday,April 29. Letter To The Citizens O f Morrow County Pacific Gas Transmission Company (PGT), Bechtel Corpora tion and Gregory and Cook, Inc. would like to thank the citizens of Morrow County for their patience and support during the con struction o f the PGT Pipeline Expansion. We know that the pro ject has taken its toll on local roads and we want to reassure everyone that we are committed to repairing any damage caused by our winter construction activities. We are currently making repairs and recently finalized plans with Morrow County officials that should restore the roads to everyone’s satisfaction. Final repair work is expected to begin in April or as soon as weather condi tions permit. Expansion project work north o f lone to the Washington state border is scheduled to be finished by early May. Construction will resume west o f Condon in mid-July and be completed at lone late this summer. The Expansion, which will bring additional supplies o f natural gas to the Pacific Northwest, is an economic boon for Oregon. This year approximately 300 short-term construction jobs in nor thern Oregon will be filled by local residents. Communities close to the construction will benefit economically by providing hous ing, food, entertainment, equipment repair, service contracts and the like. Upon project completion, the new facilities will almost double PGT's annual tax contribution to Morrow County to a total of approximately $1.4 million. PGT is pleased to work with the citizens and officials of Mor row County and hopes that the temporary inconveniences caused by our construction activities are far outweighed by the benefits the project will bring to the county in coming years. The Senior Focus Group on health was formed during the Community Decision Making Rural Health Care Project in Feb. 1991 and has met regularly since then. U of O announce of Oregon’s finest high school football coaches, each a winner in his division. This year’s training camp will be reduced from 10 to seven days and will start with player pick-up in Portland on July 31. These young athletes representing A. AA and AAA schools contribute their talent to the fifth largest money raiser for the Shrine T.R. Riehl Hospitals in North America. In 1992 the Shrine game produced $65,000 net proceeds which was presented to the Portland Shrine Hospital Board at the December ceremonial. Sweeney, Kilkenny Bossy Bingo winners The luck of the Irish is still holding for the Pat Sweeney family of Heppner. Pat won $250 in the Bossy Bingo contest held Saturday during the St. Patrick’s weekend festivities. Sweeney’s son, Cameron, earlier .won this year’s treasure hunt and $90 worth of silver coins. Bob Kilkenny, Lexington, also won $250 in the Bossy Bingo contest. The contest was sponsored by the Heppner High School Wild Horse Club. Bill Morris has lucky button number winter graduates Deborah Kendrick, Heppner, is among more than 650 Univer sity of Oregon students who are candidates for degres at the end of winter term, according to of ficials in the Office of the Registrar. Kendrick received a bachelor of architecture degree. Among winter term's 680 degree candidates, 530 will receive bachelor’s degrees, two candidates receiving department certificates, 100 completing master’s degrees and 48 finishing doctoral degrees. No commencement ceremonies will be held, however, several schools, colleges and departments will host informal receptions honoring graduates and their families. Diplomas will be mailed to all who complete graduation re quirements by term's end March 19. Judie Laughlin, designer of the buttons, says that there are a few buttons left that may be purchas ed as keepsakes for $2 each.
