All residents of Central and
Eastern Oregon who want to help
shape the future of their com
munities and their state are in
vited to attend the Central and
Eastern Oregon Sagebrush Uni
ty Conference in Baker City May
8 and 9. This conference is about
people from Central and Eastern
Oregon taking charge of their
destiny and determining ways to
best preserve and enhance our
cherished way of life. Topics for
discussing are all areas that con
cern us-- the econom y,
agriculture, timber, the environ
ment, education, community ser
vices for people, an our unique
culture and heritage as residents
of this part of the state. It sounds
like an opportunity to articulate
the values we hold dear, the
issues we face, and the strategies
we support. The results will be
documented for distribution
throughout the state. It is the in
tention that gatherings such as this
will be held before every
legislative session for years to
come.
Registrants are asked to answer
the following three questions: 1)
With all the places one could
choose to live, why do you live
in Eastern Oregon? 2) What is it
about living in Eastern Oregon
that you value the very most? 3)
What worries you most about the
future of Eastern Oregon? If you
can’t attend but would like to
share your responses, bring them
by the Chamber Office and
registrants will share them at the
Baker meeting. For more infor
m ation, contact H eppner
Chamber, 676-5536 (Tues. &
Wed.).
Hospitality Training Registra
tion is due by April 22 for the
April 27 training. The seminar is
filling up fast, so interested per
sons are encouraged to send their
$5 application fees soon.
Next week is Secretaries week.
Chamber members are encourag
ed to bring their secretaries to
lunch. A trip to Iceland on the
agenda.
Wishing you a happy Easter
weekend.
