If you don’t know the dif ference between a tuxedo and pierrot collar or butcher cloth and charmeuse, then the Oreogn State University Extension Service has two new publications that will help you understand fashion styles and fabric terms. “ Fashion Terms and Styles for Women’s Garments and Fashion Term s: Apparel Fabric Glossary” were written to assist consum ers, explains Ardis Koester, Extension textiles and clothing specialist. “ Fashion Terms and Styles," written by Koester and Nancy O. Bryant, OSU associate professor of apparel, interiors, housing and merchandising, includes both text and illustrations of basic terms and styles that consumers will see in catalogs and other advertisements. Fashion catalog photographs and fashion sketches sometimes make it difficult to see the styles, the specialist observes.
