Heppner Gazette-Times,- Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 29, 1992 - FIVE Obituaries Oma Juanita Cox Charles Rhea Spencer Memorial services were held Jan. 6, 1992 for Charles Rhea Spencer at the Life Community Church. Cremation was under the direction of Metrocrest Funeral chapel. Rev. Rick Piacente and Tony Shepherd officiated. Charles Rhea Spencer, 29, of Dallas Texas, died at his home on January 1, 1992. He was bom June 16, 1962 at San Jose, California the son of Gale W and Lynn L Spencer. After the death of his mother he and his father moved to Eugene to be near his grandparents Sloan Rhea and Dorris Spencer. He attended the local schools and was an avid basketball and soccer participant. He moved to Dallas Texas in 1981 where he was employed by the Sun Belt Pool Supply. He married his wife Michelle Johnson on March 30, 1987 at Mesquite Texas. Charles was a fifth generation member of several early settlers both at Eightmile and the Hepp- ner area before it became Mor row County. His relatives includ ed Dr. Benjamin Vaughan, who was killed in the 1903 Heppner flood; John Robert and Darrel Taylor Spencer who established a store on Rhea Creek and later moved it to Heppner to compete for the trade in the fast growing town; Clara Crawford and hus band who owned the Gazette- Tim es; Septimus W illiam Spencer was a banker; John Wesley Allstott homesteaded and purchased land in the Eightmile area in 1889. He was also joined by his son Robert E. Allstott where they farmed and harvested wheat. They invested money in the original elevator known as the Jordan Siding Elevator near lone. Charles was very proud of all his pioneer relatives and their strengths. Survivors include his wife and sons Joshua Daniel and Timothy Joseph at the home; his parents Gale and Jenel Spencer, Junction City; grandmother Dorris Allstott Spencer, Meridian, ID., three half brothers Mike and Jack Lee and Bob Emerly; two half sisters Karen Lee and Vicki Parsons; an aunt Karen Ziese, Jasonville, In diana and an uncle Sloan Rhea Spencer, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Ethel Bailey Bowers Ethel Bailey Bowers, 75, of Scappoose, formerly of Heppner, diedTues., Jan. 21 at her home. Ethel was bom Sept. 16, 1916 to Nelson and Mary Sherlock Bailey. She had belong to various organizations during her lifetime. She is survived by a son Ralph, of Pasco, WA.; daughter Mary Larson, Scappoose; sisters M aude Hughes, Heppner; M argaret Stout, Olympia; Elizabeth Johnson, Bend; Dora Parson, King City; brothers Arlo Bailey, Scappoose; Harold Bailey, Ona Alaska, WA; Nelson Bailey, Canby; Frances Bailey, Oregon City; Earl Bailey, Mid dleton, CA.; Albert Baiely, Red mond; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Investigation is continuing; M orrow County deputy responded to a work shop on Laurel Lane in Boardman for a report of a burglary. Victim was Terry Tallman, amount of value has not been determined; Morrow County deputy receiv ed a report of an intoxicated driver leaving an Irrigon business on Hwy 730.
