Heppner,Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, December 18, 1991 - THREE Weddings .St. Patrick’ s Senior Center Bulletin Board Basford — Perez Matthews — Derbyshire Shannon Perez and Richard Basford were married Nov. 25, 1991 at the Morrow County Courthouse annex building in Heppner. Judge Charlotte Gray officiated. Bridesmaid was Kim Hendricks, lone. Best man was Bryan Basford, brother of the groom. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Perez, Blake Ranch, Heppner. She is a 1990 graduate of lone High School and has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Richard is the son of Alan Basford, lone and Shirley Basford, Lake Havasu, Arizona. He is a 1989 graduate of lone High School. He has enlisted in the Air Force and will depart March l l , 1992 for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The couple took a wedding trip to Salt Lake City, Utah for Thanksgiving and a Basford family reunion. Deniece Matthews and Graham Derbyshire of Hermiston were mar ried in a double ring ceremony September 14, 1991 at the United Church of Christ in lone. The Rev. Sara Brown of lone performed the ceremony. The bride wore a tea-length dress of ivory lace. She carried a bou quet of peach roses, white carnations and baby’s breath. Matron of honor was the brides twin sister Bemiece Thornton, of Salem. The groom’s attendant was his daughter, April Derbyshire of Biloxi, Mississippi. Ushers were Pat and Mike Thornton of Salem. Candlelighters were Keely and Mike Thorton, niece and nephew of the bride. Organist was Rikka Tews of lone. Soloists were Joyce Barak of Hermiston and Linda Sawyer of The Dalles. A reception was held at the church followed by a barbecue at the newlyweds home in Hermiston. The couple are both teachers at Stanfield High School. Engagements Charles Davidson honored Piper — Arbogast Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Piper, Lexington and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Arbogast, Heppner announce the engagement of their children Sheri Lynn Piper and Ty Alan Arbogast. Sheri is a 1987 graduate of Heppner High School and is currently employed at Del’s Market in Lexington. Ty is a 1988 graduate of Heppner High School and is employed at Black Horse Ranches in Heppner. The couple plan a February 14, 1992 wedding at the Heppner United Methodist Church. Oddfellow- Singles party planned Dec. 27 Rebekah hall A singles holiday party will be held Friday evening, Dec. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Senior Center front room in Heppner. All widows, widowers and singles are invited to attend. Punch will be furnished and each person attending is asked to bring a favorite holiday snack. The party promises fun, games and a good time. Davidson, of lone, has received a special service award from the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation. The younger Davidson is a Heppner High graduate. He at tended college at Walla Walla, WA and is employed as a machinist with the Corps of Engineers at Grand Coulee Dam. The seniors were saddened by the death of Lewis Halvorsen. He will be missed by all the seniors. Approximately 40 people attended the Area Agency on Aging meeting at the Senior Center Friday Dec. 13. Dinner for the meeting was prepared by Marilyn Bergstrom, assisted by a volunteer crew of Ruth Bergstrom, Harriet Batty, Blanche Jones, Eleanor Gonty, Irene Schroeder and Barb Strothers. Irene Schroeder, Bernice Nash and her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dean Connor, went on the SCRAM tour to Leavenworth, WA last weekend. They reported that it was cold but beautiful. Quilters and Company are taking a two week vacation. They will meet again Jan. 6, from l to 4 p.m. in the Senior Center dining room. There will not be a senior dinner on Christmas or New Year’s. The next dinner will be Wed. Jan. 8. The singles’ party will be in the senior center recreation room Dec. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. Exercise will hold classes on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. SALE NOW IN PROGRESS! The lone Senior Class is spon soring a Bingo game night, Sun day, December 22 at the Office Tavern in lone from 4-6 p.m. The cards will be sold for 25 cents a sheet. Proceeds will go towards the senior graduation trip to Disneyland.
