The Heppner High School Drama Club will perform ‘‘West of Pecos" on November 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafetorium. Happy birthday to Mustangs whip Imbler; meet TigerScots Oct. 25 The Heppner Mustangs continued their winning ways with a 28-13 road victory Friday afternoon over the Imbler Panthers. The game, played on a sunny afternoon in the shadow of Mt. Emi ly, wasn’t close for long as the Mustangs sprinted to a two- touchdown lead and never looked back. Senior fullback Jim Kindle blasted into the end zone from two yards out the first time Heppner had the pigskin. The big plays on the 40-yard drive were a 20-yard pass completion from Rick Koffler to senior end Ryan Currin and gains of nine yards and 11 yards by halfback Scott Coe. Coe had a solid game running the ball with 103 yards on seven carries. Len Brittner was good on his first of four successful pats and Heppner led, 7-0. Kindle scored from 15 yards out with eight seconds left in the first quarter to cap an 11-play 53-yard scoring drive. Sophomore running back Kevin Payne had a 15-yard gainer in the drive. Payne was also a 100-yard rusher on the day with 101 yards on seven carries. Heppner scored in three plays the next time they touched the ball Payne gained 14 down the middle. Coe sprinted 26 yards around the end. Koffler found Brittner on a slant Hardman haunted house The annual Hardman Halloween Haunted House is planned the night before Halloween this year, Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hardman Com munity Center. Coe ran over half the Imbler team on his way to the end zone. Coach Grant substituted liberally in the entire second half. Imbler us ed two onside kicks and two pass in terceptions from freshman Isaac Lowe to senior Tim Phelps to make the final score 28-13. The win makes the Mustangs' season record 5-1 with a 2-0 league record. Heppner faces the Weston- McEwen TigerScots Friday night. October 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds. A win would clinch a playoff spot for Heppner. The TigerScots are having a fine season, losing only to the Umatilla Vikings, who are tied with the Mustangs for the CBC league lead. Playing both games on the road, the Cards rolled past Cascade Locks on Tuesday and easily dispatched Dufur on Saturday. Crystal Minster led the defensive efforts in the Cardinals 15-4, 15-12 victory over Cascade Locks.
